Friend of mine had RALP three years ago. Despite my protests it was very lackadaisical about PSA tests. Not sure but I think he had one test three months after the surgery it was on detectable and that was it. Then last June he had another one. Used a local Uro, not his surgeon, who was the same as mine. His pathology was clean, G7 3+4, negative margins no ECE.
Anyway after his June blood draw he never bothered to check it. I pushed him and finally this week he did check and it was .1. I actually eyeballed the report to make sure there was no less than sign and that was in .01. It was actually .1
I am pretty sure this was a standard test not the ultra sensitive. Am I correct that .1 is the lowest level of detection on the standard? Also I vaguely recall reading something here a while back saying something like Quest is no longer using the < sign. Anybody remember anything about that?
I told him the first thing is to do is retest now and ask for an ultra sensitive.
