Personal insult, disparaging of others treatment choices and name calling are a poor substitute for intelligent conversation within the site rules. It is well within our individual rights to disagree with another persons choices, but part of sharing our experiences is to find medical, emotional and/or psychological advantage that we are unaware of.

Attacking persons that you disagree with stifles the conversation. When the topic is cancer and many of the participants are dealing with a death sentence and/or extremely unpleasant side effects, it would seem unkind and perhaps unwise to criticize treatments that work for others.

You have made statements that appear contrary to the current scientific literature on this topic. Would you be so kind as to cite your sources? I look forward to reading them.

1.) Marijuana isn't a treatment choice for prostate cancer (and it's illegal in the majority of the United States). Marijuana isn't saving anyone's life who has prostate cancer. Get real. When we see our doctors, to help decide on what prostate cancer treatment we choose, none of them prescribe marijuana, and if they do you're going to the wrong doctor.

This site is not about telling people how they can best abuse their mind with a dangerous drug. It is about prostate cancer. It isn't about so-called alternative treatments, that harm men, but about helping men decide on what actual treatment, backed by medical science, will save their lives.

3.) Personal insults? Point me to where I made one. None. Zero. Zilch. But, I am glad you brought insults up because statements like "FDA approved cut, poison, and burn, does a pretty good job of killing the patient as well" are an insult to every man who treated with surgery, radiation, and hormone therapy. It is an insult to their treatment choices. Those FDA approved treatments have saved hundreds of thousands of of men's lives.

Medical marijuana is one thing but that wasn't the only sort of marijuana being discussed here. And, as I said above, marijuana is not legal in most of the U.S.

My state, Florida, has had medical marijuana for a while now. You can get prescribed for many different medical conditions of which prostate cancer is one. My wife has had a prescription for a while and I have tried small amounts of low THC content and found it made me too wired to enjoy. Now that my PSA has gone up I may try the least THC amounts. I will ask my urologist what he thinks when I see him in January.

However, the study did find that, among nonsmokers of tobacco, ever having used Cannabis was associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer.[9]"

I don’t really believe the claims about Marijuana curing cancer or even making it better (Not enough research yet). That being said both Marijuana and CBD’s have other benefits that I can personally confirm.

The Marijuana greatly reduces the hot flashes caused by Eligard and Zytiga. I was getting these every day, night sweats, etc. When I take my MM, the hot flashes become much less intense and less frequency. Also, the night sweats are completely gone.

I have bone mets and have pain in my hip from it. My Oncologist offered Opoids for pain management. I politely declined and decided to use CBD’s first before pulling the trigger on narcotics. After a few days my pain was greatly reduced with no side effects. It’s not perfect but the side effects are so much less than narcotics.

I’ve not reread all the 4 pages of posts but I don’t recall claims of MJ CURING prostate cancer.

Legal? Legality is a changing patchwork of laws and not relevant when discussing the possible medical benefits or negatives of using MJ to help with any aspect of this disease. Nobody is going to toss you in jail if you take MJ to relieve the nausea, hot flashes, reduce anxiety, etc. of this disease.

Negatives/risks? ALL useful drugs or medical treatments have risks. You the patient get the chance to decide whether the possible benefit is worth the risk.

Again, that is the bottom line. With the treatment and drug SEs seen around this place, and the SEs seen associated with dozens of different drugs our docs prescribe for us, and even the OTC drug SEs, the evidence so far for MJ seems relatively benign, though I'm sure more research is needed to know for sure. But, people get addicted to the opioids doctors have prescribed for them, and multiple thousands have died from over doses resulting from that. So I won't be surprised if MJ or CBD turns out to have some unwanted SEs from it. But OTOH, so far, has any one ever way over done it on the MJ(i.e. MJ alone, with nothing else) and woke up dead? So if it does actually help some one's pain or other symptoms, it might be a worthwhile trade off for some SEs, compared to our currebt ways of treating pain and other problems.( I posted about the well known NSAID SEs a few posts back in this thread). It is almost comical(or maybe sad?) the commercials we see every night for drugs. "Ask your doctor for the wonderful weight loss drug Noassatall ". But then comes the a quiet, calm voice "Noassatall increases your risk of death from heart attack or stroke. Do not take noassatall if you have an infection, or if you are pregnant or might ever become pregnant or know any one who might become pregnant". Yep, many, many drugs have some unwanted SEs.

Yes, drugs have unwanted SEs. This probably includes MJ, especially if it is smoked.

It is obvious that some of us feel very strongly on this topic. Please consider reading through those links as they do not support your intent.

I would not advise anyone to inhale smoke of any kind due to the presence of toxins in same.

My medicinal use of cannabis for chemo side effects was reaffirmed by my radiation oncologist 2 days ago. I will continue to go with what my medical team recommends. Cannabis is legal here, effective for my cancer treatment side effects and suggested by my medical team for same.

Trying to change my course of treatment is a waste of effort and bandwidth. Please feel free to "ignore" me if you wish, that will not hurt me and I will not mind at all.
