Fake web news reports on the coronavirus (OT)

I haven't done a lot of research on the question, but here's a scary thought: It really doesn't take that many cases for something to become a pandemic. We're not talking about millions of infected people and hundreds of thousands of deaths. In a city the size of Los Angeles or Chicago or New York (or Beijing or Seoul), a few thousand infections is enough to be a real issue.

That is the real worry. And, what is the course of infection? How is it transmitted from person to person, what are the symptoms, and how long does it take to finish in an individual? Aerosol transmission, "flu-like symptoms", and a week or less from infection to death is bad. And it's a virus. Which means there isn't a lot to do to treat it (no antibiotics will work).

Tim G the head of the WHO recommended Dr. Campbell. You can dismiss him, or not. Don't care.

As Buddy said, let's hope something in the works now pans out soon and that we have both a vaccine and an effective drug for those infected.

The Walking Dead is simply wrong, those zombies infected brains need a blood supply, but yet you can kill one only by bashing/cutting of it's head.

Now the real issue, pandemic.
Mathematically it is absolutely possible, all you need is one disease vector to escape undetected.
Hmm, China has well over a billion people, some scrambling to leave.
I think it's safe to say that 100s of thousands would like to leave.
Many by plane, and we can pretend that that will be controlled. cough, cough, cough
But how about those poor infected poverty stricken villagers.
Run to Tibet, cross the Himalayas into say, Bhutan, Sikkim, Nepal or God forbid India.
Nepal, infect idiots wanting to climb Everest go back home to their respective countries.
India, infects some small village in the north. All that great healthcare in India, stops it right there.
Yeah, okay.
My whole point is that trying to restrain a disease vector once it's out of the country will be like trying to hold water in your outspread fingers.

Of course I made the above post about immunity as a joke, but then, just for the heck of it, I did a little searching, and, lo and behold, there really is research going on using vaccine made from flu virus to attack cancer tumors!

The article below, from last December, talks about ways this is being studied. From the article:

"This is one of those ideas that seems nuts but had so many earlier results pointing toward it working that it was really just a matter of time before someone tried it."

"... the researchers identified over 30,000 people being treated for lung cancer and found those who also received an influenza diagnosis. You might expect that the combination of the flu and cancer would be very difficult for those patients, but instead, they had lower mortality than the patients who didn't get the flu."

"Having an active influenza virus infection reduced the ability of the melanoma cells to establish themselves in the lung."

But then the article goes on to discuss problems that would need to be overcome for this technique to be the basis of a successful form of treatment, so it's no given that this approach is ultimately the way to go.

And all this probably has nothing to do with the coronavirus, and it may well be, as is often the case, that it's going to be something that works in mice, but not people.

But wouldn't it be so ironic if it someday is shown that a thing as nasty as a flu virus turned out to be a cancer fighter in people!

Actually Tim, that's incorrect. We can easily tell if someone is a crackpot or not these days. We all have Google, we all can read and compare notes on things. We often get scammers here pushing their odd juju treatments. They're usually easy to spot. Everyone knows, or should, about YouTube and the quality, or lack thereof, of medical advice given there. We here, having dealt with cancer, know how to spot a scam maybe better than most who have not had the misfortune of disease.

The head of the WHO sent an email to Campbell, praising the information on his channel re: COVID-19. People can take that or leave it. I don't put much into the current head of the WHO re: COVID-19. I think he's too cautious, but, who am I? I am not a doctor, or a scientist, just a regular joe. You won't find detailed reports on the virus at either the CDC, or the WHO, website. They do have their briefings up, and they are very valuable for us.

Campbell is giving fact-based, no nonsense, medical info on the virus. He's a teaching doctor. He doesn't sell CBD cures for PCa, or push fad diets, etc. He's not going to tell you a mouse was cured of PCa so break out the champagne. I am sure you get my drift.

Not trying to give you a hard time but your quick dismissal of Campbell was off the mark, and totally unwarranted.
