New Member intro-Gleason 10

I just wanted to say hi to all. I have been reading extensively, but haven't been posting.

I was diagnosed last July at age 52. Mets to pelvis and lymph nodes. Gleason 10 in all biopsy cores. I recently completed docetaxel chemo. Still on Lupron and Casodex. Recently had scans re-done and doc states a tremendous response to treatment so far on tumor shrinkage. PSA currently at .04 from a PSA of 16 at diagnosis.

I start a clinical trial S1802 this Friday for radiation for "debulking" the primary tumor.

I'm very fortunate to have a wonderful wife and 3 fantastic kids, which makes it a lot easier while counting your blessings.

I have to say that I still don't believe I have a very unfortunate diagnosis. Other than some fatigue from the chemo, I haven't really been sick at all to date. It is very inspiring to read all the success stories on this site. Hopefully, I can inspire hope to newly diagnosed folks in the coming years.

You've been dealt a tough hand, but you're responding well to treatment. You also have a great outlook, which is important. I think the de-bulking is a good idea. There are other guys on the Forum with similar diagnoses who have done well.

I have already welcomed you but I will do so again - and good luck ahead!

Welcome Jesse, sorry you have to be here with the crappy hand you were dealt but glad to hear that the treatments so far are having a great effect. A supportive wife and great kids always helps (I have 3 kids myself). De-bulking sounds like a great idea, especially after the chemo blast. I wish you well on your future treatment journey. I just celebrated my 7th New Year's Day since my diagnosis.

We have many common threads in our treatment story, including a round of chemo therapy infusions, and then a series of radiation treatments.

When I read your original post, it was great to see that significant drop in PSA that you mentioned.

From experience with my treatments over time, I know how encouraging that can be to a fellow.

It's evident to see that you are definitely the "quarterback" of your medical team ---- you took the ball and ran decisively down the field --- with determination and grit.

How did the follow-up radiation treatments go for you, after your chemotherapy infusions were finished up? That's the sequence of treatments I pursued, as well.

Hoping things are going well for you, Jesse. Hope your energy has rebounded fully, after the treatments you mentioned in your post.

A PSA of 16 with your pathology is rather amazing. You didn’t mention the number of Mets but did you look into this trial. https://consultqd.clevelandclinic.org/metacure-trial-can-we-cure-more-oligometastatic-prostate-cancer/
