Another influential guitar player from the ‘60’s is moving on to a better place. Taking Eric Clapton’s spot in John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers and as a founder of the original Fleetwood Mac, Peter Green was quite well known and revered in guitar circles.

I had heard his name for years before I got into Mayall’s music and early Fleetwood Mac blues work. Gary Moore did a tribute album, Blues for Greeny, playing his music and his Les Paul. Lots of stories now that he has passed that you can read about if interested.

Another sad day for guitar players and blues lovers everywhere.

That was the real Fleetwood Mac.

A lot of musicians (and others) got done in by the late 60's. Seemed that there were always some in high school and college that were permanently damaged by the drug and alcohol scene during my days in that environment. Peter Green was one whose bad experience probably stalled a career that could have been as good as any guitarist/singer/songwriter. He was respected by all his peers but unknown to virtually anyone else. I have been listening to his old music for a couple days now.

Peter Green made a solo record called 'End of the Game"
It has a stunning photo on the cover of a big cat, like a jaguar or a leopard draped on a tree branch.

that's debatable. Rumours was one of the best selling albums ever and the Fleetwood Mac that most people know.
