So I had my annual with the doc monitoring my post op status. PSA still non-detectable, everything else in the green (creatinine, etc). BP a little elevated. See you in a year was his last comment. He also does a DRE, seeing if there is anything unusual in the prostate bed. He explained that many docs don't--but he has occasionally found things to be concerned about, so he does it for all his post-op patients. I actually appreciate the thoroughness, even if I don't enjoy the experience.
He also told me that he had a patient recently who's elderly father was looking for a urologist in St. Louis (where I had my surgery). He recalled my case, and offered my St. Louis urologist to his patient for his father to call. A good report came back that he went, and is happy with the referral. So, we can all have 2nd and 3rd degree influence on others even without knowing about it.
