Had my six month PSA blood draw this morning, just got the result, and it is <.05 (MSK threshold). Testosterone sadly is 261. My baseline was low to begin with prior to ADT at 322. The report quotes "reference range" of 221-716, but in the past, i have seen ref range starting at 300 (same assay). And when i tested on my own at Labcorp two months ago , which obviously is a different assay, it was 316.
My last two tests prior to this at MSK were 261 and 258, so its steady and i guess this is pretty much where i will stay.

In any case, as long as the T result was accompanied by a PSA starting with "<" , I'll take it and be happy with it.
For some reason i was extremely nervous this time waiting for the result, much more so than usual. I guess i always wonder if it would have been undetectable if i tested elsewhere with a lower threshold, like <.014 at Labcorp. I think of doing that sometimes, but i know nothing will be done, even at .05, until it goes higher, so i avoid aggravation, its not worth it to have an earlier datapoint (@Djin, i think i just pre-empted your question LOL.)

Yes, good result. Congratulations.

In your shoes I probably would also just stick with the assay you have. My PSA cutoff is 0.01, which doesn't really make sense to me at this stage of my PCa career. A 0.1 cutoff might save me a few months of anxiety, but for me it isn't a big deal.

That was some great news you shared, Pratoman.

Always thankful to read GOOD NEWS shared from a compadre who posts here!

I think every fellow here feels those tingles of anxiety, when visiting the lab, and waiting to hear the results.

In my case, I get to the lab first --- get my lab tests done right away --- then visit a favorite cafe --- run a few errands --- and then see my oncologist a couple of hours later.

By then, all lab work has been processed and I have my oncologist share lab results in person, so he can share context. This format works best for me!

Have found that focusing on healthy hydration for a couple of days before visiting the lab really helps with the lab draws. It helps to "windmill" your arms 'round and 'round before entering the clinic, too --- to increase circulation before the lab draw.

When I get to the lab, they have me hold my hands under warm running water in the lab sink, and draw the blood samples from the top of my hands.

This simple protocol works MUCH better for me than drawing blood from my arms. Whatever works, right?!

Above all else --- I am thankful to read your GOOD NEWS from your lab report.

Hey Zzarth, i know the feeling. I think the pre-PSA heebie jeebies never leaves us. But small price to pay for undetectables.

I THINK he said, 5 years out then i go to 1 year. Although i may want to test every 6 months anyway, considering the threshold of their lab is <.05. I think maybre if i eventually switch to labcorp and get a <.016, i might be comfortable going to 1 year.

Great results!
I'll be 3 years post op on 8/1 and 2.5 years post ART. Just called for my quarterly script for next month. I haven't decided on going a longer period of time yet!
My background and history of getting progressively worse, then better, then worse, then better with successive appointments has lead me to keep the testing going for awhile yet.

From a guy that has a T level of <3, I'd say you're doing pretty well. I think I watch a ROMCOM and cry when the nice guy loses the girl.
