81GyGuy Those without honor began printing up fake Covid IDs within seconds of seeing the real ones. That is why it was necessary to implement the digital IDs. They are verified.
If someone lies about this, what else are they lying about? AIDS? HEP-C? Herpes? ...

The ID is really quite nice and convenient. It is similar to an airline boarding pass - a fancy QR code.
Concert venues, restaurants, businesses, schools are requesting some proof of vaccination and some people (without honor) have already counterfeited and copied the paper records. Since it is clear the "honor system" does not assure compliance, the Excelsior pass takes that out of the picture.
If for some reason a person can't be vaccinated and needs to get into an event, they can get a pass by having a negative Covid test within some number of days before the event. The Excelsior pass has that info, too.

Being the ever-curious engineer, I verified that, as promised, the scanner does not track or report attendance information to anyone. It only turns Green if OK or Red if not, so the venue can decide admittance. There is no invasion of privacy. If someone does not want to follow the venue's rules they are free to not attend.
I did not see any evidence of recording the data or "calling home to the mother ship." It simply does not have the necessary permissions.
Some engineers and coders did a really good job on the design.

By the way I have an ultrasound machine at my disposal if anyone wants to verify prostate absence or presence.

A fault with the NY System, is you had to be vaccinated in NY. So many snowbirds, (me included) got vaccinated in another state.
I cannot get an Excelsior Pass even though i am fully vaxxed

That event couldn’t take place here in Montana. Our legislature and governor made it illegal to require proof of vaccine for anything. I know plenty of people who are “refusing to live in fear” and have never worn a mask and refuse to get vaccinated.

Ron DeSantis’ executive order, for example, is likely invalid—that sort of regulation would need to go through the state legislature. The governor also can’t use emergency health powers to ban DHPs because proof of vaccination actually makes everyday activities safer. The EEOC has already said businesses can require vaccinations, DeSantis and other governors acting via executive order are contradicting federal oversight."

We are 3 weeks away from GFMPH NY! (Rochester)
Back in June it looked like Covid would be well under control by this time but, alas, that is not to be.

Unless some folks here sign up it looks like we will have about 18-20 people. That gives us some flexibility to do some offsite activities. Short Gensee river cruise? Golf driving range with a car as the target? Visit to the Rochester Port, etc. Things are still in flux due to the resurgence.
Once again, food will be prepared by the amazing Jeff the Chef, (a third Jeff, not me or Cajun Jeff.) with at least one meal involving chicken BBQ in honor of Goodlife who always insisted upon open pit grilling.
We will also have a Scotch tasting in honor of 142 with some bottles he left for us.

As a reminder we ask that all attendees be vaccinated. I won't be checking IDs or passports _{although I will have a scanner if you want to try it out for fun} .

Please let me know if you are coming so I can get a more solid count.

There was talk of counterfeit vax cards being circulated and used as "proof" to get into venues or work places that required them. New York really put the kibosh on that with their Excelsior cards. You point the scanner at the card and instantly it shows a green check mark that means the person is vaccinated and has not had a positive test within x days. It shows red of the card is fake, or the person is not vaxed, or is recently positive. (It also shows name, so people can't use someone else's card.)
I wanted to get into the workings to see if the software was phoning home to the mother ship. It wasn't.
I can't believe I am actuallly saying this about NYstate but they really did a nice job on this.
More and more places will be requiring it. Customs, airlines, concert halls, etc.
And the use of a counterfeit card is now a crime with a $15,000 penalty.

Remember, I also have an ultrasound so we can check for the presence or absence of prostates.

I am planning on coming. Not sure about Mrs. Halbert (she needs to study her work commitments first). I will bring either fresh philly pretzels and mustard or Tastee-Kakes. (Sorry, bringing Steak Sandwiches is a bit challenging for a 6 hour drive)

Philly pretzels and Tastee-Kakes are a fantastic reason to attend, can't wait. I could bring some Texas road kill Armadillo Jerky from Texas? Last time when I lived in Alabama I brought some real moon shine from a friends still, which worked great to start the BBQ, LOL

Sue and I will be spending 3 full days at the GFMPH-North gathering. We're looking forward to spending a lot of quality time with our buddies we've missed for a couple of years due to the darned virus and happy to be getting away from our storm damaged environs down here in south Louisiana, and of course, a break from the heat and humidity down here for a while!

Pat and I are very excited to be with everyone that can be there. It has been way too long. Our life long friends me so much to us.
