Prato,
The statistic that I read is that 90% of men over 70 which is you, have some degree of hardening of the arteries, forgot the technical name. The amount of plaque with calcification which is the key, in your main coronary arteries which could lead to a jammer or complications if you contracted covid, should be a concern for all of us as we age. We can't roll back the clock, but being proactive in slowing down the process of coronary artery disease by being active, eating properly, having a healthy BMI, well you know the drill. You seem to understand the basics.
Thanks for the response Dave. And yes, i have a heavy load of plaque, more than whats typical of someone my age. AFTER My last CAC scan, when i got my most recent calcium score, i did the calculation and found that over the 8 years since original diagnosis, my rate of growth has been 11%, which is actually better (slower) than average.
As far as now,i have started to loosen up a bit, generally still wear mask in stores, but if i am in a big store, like target and its late in the afternoon/evening with few people in the store, i will take the mask off. Went to orthopedist yesterday, none of the Dr/nurses were wearing masks and the waiting room wasnt crowded, so i unmasked, sitting away from others
Bigger move, i am shipping my car and flying home from Florida at the end of April, rather than what i usually do , which is drive up north. .
So baby steps.
A lot of it also has to do with being aware of the situation around you, right now there isnt a lot of disease around in most areas.
