Thanks for doing this for me, bluebird.  I don't know why I find it so difficult to participate here.  I'm very out-going, but the public forum, or the topic is eating my lunch.  When the three guys had their surgeries on the same day, I read every word, but didn't offer a word of encouragment, or anything.  It is my goal to do better.

I've had a bad, negative attitude about all this and I'm working on doing better.  I'll post results in a few days.  It's a work in progress.

Hey Bill,   You are sooo welcome!!!   It truly is my pleasure and it makes my heart sing….. chirp chirp… remember I am a mama bluebird J   I really think it’s the topic that’s getting to you…. But you must realize that the goal here is to be Cancer Free… and that’s the first step.   We deal with each stepping-stone as they come.     Wait for the biopsy results… and then accept the results and move on to the next stepping-stone.   The goal we have here is to be #1 Cancer Free……     Can I please post your first posting on this Thread…. so others can see it.   I'd like it to be on this page at the top…. Because you guessed it!!!!   YOU are now helping the next person who is having a hard time with the public forum or the topic….. and “WE” are going to share your journey to help others . If you say yes!!!!!   I will post it. J             Hey Bill, One stepping-stone at a time…. One day at a time!!! Take a deep breath.... and know we've been where you are now~~~   and we can help you through this. Take your time.... we are already on the path with you!    Each stone you come to ..... will get easier and easier....   and less slippery….   Truly!   Our hands are there to help you.   And once you grab on…. HOLD ON …. Because we will be skipping you across your stones on your journey ~ you won’t have time to have any bad or negative thoughts. It’s amazing because your postings that you have posted to others….were very heartfelt..   I remember them!!! Take one day at a time…. And if you see the morning light ~ know that “today” will be a good~positive day.   When your biopsy results come in…. you may want to back slide …… don’t……..it truly will test you!!!   If you hear the “C” word it will feel like a BIG Bus hits you… but I’m telling you right now… it’s only a little mini bus and you will get up from it.   So remember to take that deep breath… We are so proud to call you friend!     See you soon ~   Lee & Buddy

Hey Glen, thanks for asking about Thanksgiving. In fact, it's going to be special because we are sharing it with a brand new grandson who lives only a mile from us. What joy! I am an emotional man and when his lovely Mom and great guy Dad named him after me it really moved me.

Speaking of which, bluebird, you and swimom have to quit your postings. I had to get up and blow my nose and dry my eyes twice while reading your most recent. I'm running out of tissue and may have to send you the bill for more. Being an emotional man is a real burden and I just hate it, but I've always been so.

Ahhhh Jet...thanks so much for the kind words but unlike Bluebird I can be the oposite. Bluebird has all the sweetness. In fact, my not so appreciated description to new people at work is the "Very Nice Viper." One dear friend / co-worker described me as a caring and giving mentor who would stand there, let someone beat her with a stick and still be nice.... but watch out when Vick's had enough...she strikes and it's often lethal...LOL!

Sounds like your Thanksgiving has a lot of reasons to give thanks this year.

Welcome Jetguy. Never, ever be afraid to express your emotions here. Real men do cry it's the rest that are phony. There have been many times I have had to stop typing to dry an eye. Everyone here is so supportive of each other. Don't be afraid to ask any questions as the old saying goes "there are no stupid questions" As Bluebird is fond of saying Knowledge is power. They should probably make T shirts with this saying. Good luck and keep in touch.

I just wanted to say hello and share with you how I felt when I first came here. I was also hesitant about posting on a public site, but then I realized that these people have already been through the minefield and why should I go through it alone? I knew I could learn from their experiences, and Jeff and I truly have. I found it funny and strange discussing dry orgasms and how to get an erection again, but then again, all of these people have already been there....done that.... how exciting to have a grandson named after you! that is truly an honor and indicative of how special you are to people in your life. thanks for sharing a little bit of your life with us. take care, kat

Thank you all for your kind words.  I appreciate them more than you know.  Actually, you DO know, don't you?  I wish none of us knew, but we do.

I started out really passive/hostile/unhappy/generally pissed off about all this.  That kind of attitude is not helpful and I am doing better.  I'm working on a more take charge/positive/this ain't gonna' beat me attitude.  (I'd still rather go to an all night dentist that get the biopsy.)  : )

I am seriously glad that all of you are here.

Lots of positives going on which helps my attitude adjustment.

I live near the Texas Motor Speedway and go to all the races.  This weekend is being spent mostly at the track.  It's fun and exciting.

On Monday my new Grandson will be a month old.  On Wednesday, my Wife and I will celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary.  On Thursday I get the biopsy.  On Friday I have a trip to Anchorage.

The baby is wonderful and cute and tender and perfect.  Thirty seven years of marriage is deep and meaningful and satisfying.  The biopsy blows.  Going back to work means that I am functioning and working and being useful. 

It seems that I am a winner three out of four.  I'll take it.  I hope you are too.

Hi ~ Bill   & Mama Jetguy          Yes..... you truly are doing better..... but you have to travel your path and if it called for (phugpo) passive/hostile/unhappy/generally pissed off.... that's okay.   Sometimes we have to travel that road to realize it really isn't the path we want to take for the duration....   Enjoy the races…… this is good…. Helps to keep the mind occupied during times of waiting.      Now you are traveling forward and you will come to realize that the "phugpo"... just eats you up.   Glad to have you on the "tcptagbma" take charge/positive/this ain’t gonna’ beat me attitude…road.     We each travel at a different pace but traveling with friends makes it a smoother journey.   I am so glad to hear the strength in your voice~~~!!!!!!!   This is sooooo good       You must be an extra special dad…. to have had a grandson named after you!!!   What a wonderful thing to have happen!!    How about a few specifics so we can know the little man!!   Happy Anniversary Bill and please extend this to your wife……   most of all Happy Every~Day    Hopefully the trip to Anchorage is for the celebration!!   Be safe and enjoy each moment.   And Thursday will come and go in the blink of an eye.   I think you’ll realize at a later date that you are a winner all the way around 4 out of 4.   We will keep you extra close on the 9th … hopefully you can post once you get home and before you leave on your trip…   Take care, Lee & Buddy

Thanks for the response, Bluebird. : ) The new little guy is just perfect. William David and I am William. I am also most honored. It's a big, big deal to me. My son-in-law retired from the Air Force last November and he and my daughter moved here to be near us. We were and are thrilled that they live so close (one mile). I'm almost as nuts about grandson as I was about his mother 34 years ago - and I was wound pretty tight about her!

The trip to Anchorage is business. I fly a business jet to earn my daily bread. Myself, co-pilot and flight attendant are riding the airlines to Anchorage then resting for a day. We will then replace a crew arriving from Asia. The airplane gets re-fueled and the tired crew gets replaced. I did the same thing in June, except that I was one of the tired crew that was replaced. Quite common, actually.

I notice that Buddy had RRP. He's nine years younger than I and from what I gather radiation becomes more of an option at my age. I guess there's more to it than just age, but it seems to be a factor.

BTW, I am doing better and you are a big part of the reason why. I thank you.

Hi jetguy,

I'm glad to hear that you are having such a wonderful time with your new grandson. I gather that you'll be passing along to him your love of fast cars. They have been part of my life ever since I got on a wooden plank with a 3 hp Briggs & Straton engine mounted on 4 wagon wheels, and I was flying! The other big thrill of my life was running the high track at VIR in a SL 55/AMG. Some of us never grow up.

I wish you good luck on your up coming biopsy, and hope that you and the family have a happy Thanks Giving.

Good Early Morning Bill,  It's 12:20 a.m. North Carolina time.... Just wanted to let you know that our thoughts will be with you on Thursday.   You will do just fine!!!!!!   I will tell you what I told all the children when they came into the health room at school.   When you cry your body tenses up and it makes everything hurt more.   If you’re calm your body stays relaxed and you won’t hurt as much.   So ~ take Miss Lee’s (*mama bluebirds) advice that she’s given to so many children in elementary school.   Be calm and you’re body will not be tense…. In return…. You’ll feel better.   Now ~ I’m not going to sit here and tell you it won’t hurt…. But it will hurt more if you are scared. So let the fear go and you’ll do just fine!!!   Think about baby William having to get all his baby shots…. And then maybe this will ease your mind a little….. No…. Oh! Well I tried.   J   Something you said about radiation.   Please make sure you understand about having radiation.   If you have radiation… surgery is not an option later.   Bill ~ I asked Buddy at what age would he have chosen radiation.   He said depending on his health status….. probably around 65 – 67.   But one never knows until they are truly at that point! Remember:   Your decision will be the right decision for you!!!   Have a wonderful day on Wednesday… and be safe on your journey Friday.   Your job sounds interesting….. will you be flying from Anchorage to where??   And when can we expect you to be home…. Greetings from the Republic of Texas, Lee.  It's nice to hear from you again.

I'll take off from Anchorage about 2:00 in the morning Sunday and land here in Dallas about 11:00 a.m.  The flight should take about six hours.  Then I'll take the rest of the week end off.  Maybe have lunch with my grandson!

I'm not too uptight about the biopsy tomorrow.  I feel kind of like I did before my first day of boot camp.  Didn't want to do it, but knew I had to and that it would soon be over.  A guy who my parents knew used to say, "With patience, perseverance, and a little sweet oil, this too, shall pass".

Passing throught Houston, I see.  We used to live north of the airport.  If we were still there, I'd see you at the airport and spring for a cup of coffee, or some such.

Thanks for all of the reassuring words - they help a lot.

Glen, I too like horsepower and speed.  about the time internal combustion was becoming fashionable, some guy said there was a new beauty in the world and that beauty was speed.  Something to that effect, anyway.

Honking an AMG around a track would be a gas.  Am I correct that we're talking about 500 h.p.?  For my 60th birthday, my wife bought me the Richard Petty Experience here at TMS. Since they only let you go 140 the first time and it was on an oval, I thought it would be kind of lame.  I've been that fast on a motorcycle and have taken a couple of road racing courses.  I was wrong!  Driving next to the back straight wall and diving into the third corner to hit the apex looked like I was driving off a building the first few laps.  It was exciting, to say the least.

We always do turkey for Thanksgiving.  Jan (my bride of 37 years today) cooks it for 12 hours, or more at a low temp.  Someone told me that doing it that way could make us sick.  It hasn't in the past 40 years.  Except that I eat enough to make me sick.  : )

Yeah, grandson is bound to be a speed freak.  His mom and dad met at a drag strip where they were racing their Mustangs.  Jan and I met at an airport.

Hi all out there, been reading all your posts and can assure you that there should be no problems or worries about expressig ourselves on here, lets face it none of us thought we would be looking for help from a forum like this ever, but fortunately for me i came across this forum at a time when i needed to be able to speak to people who have the same problems and find out a bit more about whats happening to me. I can tell you it has helped me no end and it has made it a lot easier on the mind sharing my problems, when 1st diagnosed it was all doom and gloom but after joining this forum and reading about all your experiences i can see a light at the end of the tunnel and all going well i look forward to a great normal life after pc.
So come on people let it out and if we can help we will, you can catch me anytime on Mickeyboys page.

To continue this journey from Day 1…. this posting is being added to Bill’s …..personal thread… Jetguy’s Page J   This is for those of you who are awaiting and dreading their first biopsy.  I had mine done an hour and a half ago.  The memory is still fresh, so here goes:   After I checked in, a nurse came and got me within 10 minutes.  I gave a urine specimen and then went to an exam room where I waited a few minutes and was then led to the procedure room.  The nurse asked me a few questions to which they had the answers.  She then told me to take off everything below my waist, sit on the table, and cover myself with a paper sheet.   The nurse came back in a bit and had me lie on my left side with my butt at the edge of the table. She then raised the table.  The doc came in and began explaining what they were going to do.  I told him I already knew what to expect and to have at it.  He greased me up and slid the probe in.  It was smaller than I expected.  They sonogramed me for a few minutes (very few) and then gave me the shots.  They pinched a bit, but no worse than that.  He then did 12 samples which took another few minutes and caused absolutely no pain.  None.  Zip.  Zilch.   The only surprise was the blood.  There was blood on the pad I lay on and some bright shiny blood dripped from my penis.  I wiped a bunch of blood from my backside, too.  I told the doc and he was not concerned.  I had to change my underwear when I got home - soaked through my pants in front, too.  It aches a bit down there, so I have taken a couple of tylenol and it's better.  Not much blood now, either.   Beats the hell out of finding cancer when it's too late.  It was an unpleasant experience and I hated every minute of it.  I'd do it again in a heartbeat if it caught cancer in its early stage.  I hope this helps some of you guys.  I'm a real weenie about medical stuff and this was tolerable.   I think I'll take my bride, my daughter, and my new grandson to lunch.     Regards,   Bill

This stone is behind you and now on to the next one  I wanted to keep your thread complete from Day 1 because this will truly help so many others....... Are you okay with this ?? I hope your lunch was wonderful. Hugs to mama Jet, your daughter, and baby William.   I am so appreciative that you shared your biopsy journey.   We did not experience the blood issue but knew it was a possibility from our readings.   I truly am thankful you've opened your heart completely with true feelings that you've shared. This will help so many.
