Sara and I received the ultimate news today! Dr. Foley informed us that the cancer was completely confined to the prostate gland, though there was a "lot of cancer in there," none had reached the margins. He also biopsied my lymph nodes and said they were clear as well. And here's the second best news:
NO MORE CATHETER!!!!
YES!!!! Sweet freedom! So far no leakage, but we're on day one of many more!
I have to throw in a plug for Dr. Foley. This guy has been the ultimate choice for my surgery. His name is Dr. Patrick Foley, and his office is in Chattanooga, TN. We had a good feeling about him from the very beginning, and it proved right. At first i was concerned that he'd only done about 85 of the robotic surgeries, along with about 150 of the regular laparoscopic surgeries, but after consideration, i liked the idea that he hadn't done hundreds or a thousand. In my mind, it seemed he'd be more careful having not done as many as some. During our consultation, he said that the learning curve was much lower for robotic than regular laparoscopic, and that after the first few robotic surgeries, he was more comfortable with it than regular laparoscopic. He also informed us that if anything went wrong with the DaVinci, he'd use regular laparoscopic, and/or open surgery if needed. He's shown himself to a very good surgeon, evidenced by my erections beginning at day six!!! lol. Sara and i highly recommend him to anyone who might be in the Chattanooga, TN area and choosing the robotic laparoscopic surgery option.
May God bless you all,
Dennis and Sara
