Now that I am in the middle of my healing, I find myself talking to friends who are also in various stages. As I mentioned earlier I have two close friends who were diagnosed about the same time as I was. (we call our selves the ...cancer cluster) They both chose seed implant therapy. I don't know all of the details, but one is doing well and the other is not.
I posted my remarks on a brachytherapy post, but they were at the bottom and were little noticed. I will repeat my friends problem as he is not inclined to come here and post himself.
I don't have his gleason scores, grades or psa. He had radium seed implants in August 2006.
Everything seemed to go well, except a problem with urination. He subsequently developed a very serious E-Coli bacteria infection. I have never heard of this happening. He has been treated with antibiotics, but he just can't "Pee". Currently he needs to carry a catheter that he must insert in his penis every time he needs to urinate. He say's it is uncomfortable, inconvenient and embarassing. I can't disagree. Have any of you had any experience with this? Do you know what he can do to remediate this problem?
I know that most of you, like me have had surgery. But there must be some who have researched this and have some ideas.
Thanks for your comments.
