Hi, Tek. While I'm not equipped to answer from a medical standpoint, in our case, we simply had to get the pain under control. This has happened in the past as well for other surgeries, and it also took a jump during the recent hernia repair. Once the pain meds kicked in sufficiently, it went down.

At one point post-da vinci (and this was five days later), we called Dr. F. because the pain was so bad due to an enlarged scrotum (a normal occurrence). He had us double up on the pain meds (2 kinds - one an OTC). We didn't take pressure during this time, though.

Post hernia, the nurses were not concerned about the spike (which was right around 150/94 for a couple of hours or so). They just said the pain meds would take it down.

Please don't hesitate to call Dr. F's office, if this isn't resolved. You'll feel more at ease and they're more than happy to answer any questions/address any issues. Call the main number and tell them you're post-surgery. They'll put you in contact with a nurse who will consult with Dr. F. and get right back to you.

(Perhaps by now, it's already down. And please tell us how he's feeling otherwise.)

Excellent news! Those bags and tubes can get a bit cantankerous every once in a while. If they back up, there's a bit of pressure/discomfort that can be felt, too. Just be sure it's kept below the bladder level at all times and there's no suctioning (the bag sides pressing together) where the top drip portion sits.

And that part will be gone in a few short days!
