Hi Bill,
I'm back and had a great time. Interviews went well and waiting to hear something. We went to the new Air and Space Museum at Dulles...It was really cool! Its really neat how they tell you whats going on with the jets as they land up in the tower. I'm sure you have been there tho! Glad you have your wings back!!

hey everyone....not much to report so far...he said i was doing great but will know for sure when results of PSA are in tomorrow or Friday. he said the fact that i was back to normal so quick was definitely a good sign...he expects the PSA to be down to around 3 but said we wouldn't have a true reading for a couple of months..he prefers to wait 4 months but does a check 4-6 weeks after treatment just for the patient's peace of mind...I'll post as soon as I hear...hope everyone is doiing well!!! take care, trey

I am glad that things went well in Va. and hope you find what you are looking for.  Also on pins and needles about the PSA.  In effort to not worry about the future I haven't asked my uro what kind of PSA I should expect.  From one extreme to another, I guess.  Let us know as soon as you find out.

Hey everyone,
Just got my PSA report. It has dropped from 7.2 to 5.8 six weeks after treatment completed. I asked the dr. what to hope for when I saw him on Wed. and he said he expected it to be between 3 and 4. He is off on Fridays so I couldn't talk to him today. The nurse said the fact that it was dropping was a sign that the radiation was working. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I feel a little alarmed since it wasn't down to where he said he thought it would be. He did say that the PSA after 4 months is the one that really matters.

Trey,

Believe me I know it's hard to wait but the fact that he prefers to do the PSA at 4 months may explain some things. The 3 or 4 he mentioned to you is an average...and you are not an average guy!!! I really doubt that this PSA in conclusive of anything but a DROP and a good one. I know others will post and hopefully, you'll get some level of comfort.

Keep the faith Trey and look on the good side of this. Let's see what your 4 month PSA brings.

When it rains it pours!
I spent Saturday in the ER. I woke up with severe back pain and just assumed it was my herniated disk acting up..Even though the pain worsened, I went to work. Only lasted an hour, came home and got on the heating pad. I was hurting so bad I started throwing up so I called my daughter to come take me to the ER.
After a CT, it I was diagnosed with a kidney stone. They gave me toradol with an IV and the pain was soon gone. As you have probably guessed by now, it was a kidney stone,( measuring 4mm). Still waiting for it to pass. I'm not in much pain now but its 3am here and the toradol, oxycotin, and phenagan have relaxed me but still can't sleep. As Rosanne Rosanna Danna use to say on SNL, "it's always something"! Take care friends!! Trey

Trey - tough news! Hopefully this too will "pass"! They say kidney stones are comparable or even worse than birthing and my daughter who has done both says she'd rather give birth than have kidney stones.

It's interesting, but it seems to me that sometimes the kidney stone attacks follow close to surgery or other medical intervention. My daughter has had kidney stones twice, both times at the 3 month mark following the birth of a baby.

Be sure and drink plenty of water! Keep us posted! HUGS to you!

Hey ~ Trey, :) Hugs to you and kick that ole kidney stone. Let the 4th month report be your guide. Let your body have time to do it's thing in harmony with the radiation. Again ~ time & patience. HI TREY...... I am also in shock over my future biopsy....... I have a low PSA, but my urologists does not like feel of my prostate... I always thought it was the other way around..... I have suffered where depression for many years and alone also. I'm really scared. I don't know what the future will bring..... and if it's cancer knowing what steps to take....... wish you all the BEST...... Richard -- PA
