To answer your question.....no, I haven't used CTCA however I am very into alternative treatments. Keep in mind the CTCA is a "whole" approach which does not translate into opposing traditional medicine. There is a well known surgeon at the facility in Washington who does robotic assisted surgery for instance. Spiritual, traditonal and alternative healing is the only way to treat a patient IMHO.

Do you have the name of the surgeon at CTCA in Washington?  How did you hear about him?

I will try my best to find the post by LS a ways back where she mentioned the Doc's name. That was one of the choices/locations she and DW were considering. They happen to live in that neck of the woods. As it turned out, DW chose HIFU and not CTCA. The surgeon was a commonly mentioned name; a man who also does surgery at another well known facility too. Mikkleson or some such name maybe? It was not an uncommon name however my mind escapes me as to just who he is at the moment. I forgot, have you mentioned where in the country you are located? There are 4-5 CTC's around. Just wondering. I'll try to find it later...sorry kiddo.

I do live near Phila., but for some reason, I am being flown to Zion.  Just as well, I like the idea of being a captive participant where I can access all the tests, and meetings without having to concern my self about driving all over the city.

I am impressed with CTCA, and have had to do a heavy sales job to my family for postponing my surgery.  I just told them this organization seems to make the most sense of anyone I have encountered in my journey.  Surgery is still on the table(no PUN), but it may be in Washington state, don't know if it is performed in Zion.

Looking forward to getting out there next week, and having a fresh pair of eyes looking at me!!!

Thank you for the kind words! Got back late Friday night from CTCA after a week of tests, and interviews.  Found out I was not a good canidate for HDR Breaktherapy due to location of tumor.  Will be calling my surgeon tomorrow to reschedule surgery.

Hey Broker,      Glad you researched this avenue… you would have always wondered about it!   Now ~ we can move forward to getting you back on the surgery books.   Good timing with your post…. Hi Everyone!

New surgery date is June 21, 3 weeks from now I should be prostate free, along with a few other organs (SV,LN). Feeling good about this decision after much research, and travel, small price to pay!

Will stay in the loop, BEST to everyone!!!

We will be there for sure… yes ~ after the decision is made things settle down a little.  And with all the wonderful sharing of others you will now focus on the what you need to do to get ready.

A few helpful suggestions… exercise (kegels and stairs too), keep your positive attitude, and allow us to continue to walk with you! 

Please do ~ stay in the loop!  We need you as much as you need us.  It works both ways… and future Newbies will be glad to see another journey to pull from.  As time permits ~ please add the specific type of surgery you have decided on to your signature. 

Take care and hold on to us… 3 weeks will be here before you know it!!!

Good job Broker. I felt better having made my treatment decision and scheduled the procedure. You'll feel even better when you get past it all.

WOW, you really caught it early.  Seems like you are coming along well.  Glad to hear no spreading out of capsual.  According to my MRI, there could be some invasion of the right SV, won't know till surgery is done. SV,LN coming out along with Mr. Cancer.  Always radiation if needed.

When I was out at the CTCA I saw, and spoke with people who made me feel like a piker.  So many REALLY BAD cancers we can get I feel fortunate to have caught this in a relatively early stage, and have so many treatments to provide a cure.

Good to see you're looking at lots of options. I've heard of the Cancer Center and it's great they offer many options, However I doubt they offer All possible treatments. Read as much here as you can and you will find just about all of them discussed and Histories.

Good Luck whatever you decide.

nono  Hi Lee & Buddy, & the whole Gang!!!

Been trying to keep busy with work, and exercise. Also revamping my eating habits to include much more fruits, & veggies, and less sugars, and dairy.

I am pretty much at peace with where I am, and like everyone else looking to be on the other side of this ordeal.  Hope & pray that surgery will be the FINIAL answer. 

Almost there yeah !

hey broker.... I am new on this site also and it's good to hear that you are doing well after your surgery.... I'm here in Delaware County outside of Philadelphia. I will have a biopsy done the 18. My PSA is very low, but my urologist doesn't like the feel of my prostate exam and he claims there is still a 30% chance of prostate cancer with a low PSA....... just turn 62 hmmm nervous and scared ... hope everything keeps getting better and better for you.

Hi Rick Roma!

Hope it comes back negative, look at it this way there is a 70% chance you will not have PC.  You probably get checked every year so in the event it is positive it is in very early stage, and very curable.

I wish I had my surgery already, but next Thursday is the DAY! Can understand how you feel, but this is very, very beatable!

Isn't there a way to tell if cancer has spread by removing lymph nodes in the pelvic area? You mentioned surgeons recommend surgery....yes they do, that's what they do for a living and get a lot of money for it.
