Help-After surgery penis bruising

We are just 3 days home from the open Radical surgery, I will update later so far everything fine EXCEPT has any one out there heard or knows of penile bruising?  We just called the doc and awaiting a call back.  PLEASE any input?

Update-Have catheter in until 10/30, mayby whats causing the bruising

Hey ~ Cherfd,   Hopefully you’ve received word from your doctor.   I know the testicles/scrotum & surgical site can become bruised and swollen… so we aren’t alarmed that the penis is showing bruising… possible spreading from the other areas.   A lot of work was going on in the vicinity so would expect some…     Really glad to hear that you placed the call…   you don’t need the extra pressure right now!! Please make sure you document here on this thread ~ the information you receive from your doctor.   Others will see it and will learn from it.     Let Mr. Hang do his job… We feel having the catheter in for 17 days is one of the reasons Buddy healed so well.   Again ~ a personal opinion here…   Mr. Hang was our friend!   Keeping you close and hope you’ll continue to stay close! Don't worry about how it looks.  If you have just had open surgery like I did on 10/4 that isn't the worst looking area that you see in the mirror.  As long as there is no serious pain you're ok and even pain in the lower stomach area is probably just gas.  Keep the area washed off, take any pain pills that the doctor gave you as well as the antibiotics.  Take your temperature at least once a day.  If you have any fever or chills call your doctor.  If you have severe chills and fever get yourself to the hospital.  I had pneumonia for at least a day before I ended up in the ER.  How is your appetite?  My biggest meal so far has been half of a banana, but I'm thinking of trying some soup tonight.

I know what you feel like. I was black and blue all around my groin and hip area. The "boys" were quite swolen. As long as you don't have a lot of pain in the area you should see it start to look normal in a few days.

I too had bruising. It went mostly away within about 2 weeks or less. Don't be alarmed by it, as I believe it's fairly normal. It was in my post op guide that it would happen.

I had one unpleasant surprise myself...yesterday, 3 weeks post surgery, I had really bloody urine suddenly after everything had been clear since the cath came out. It freaked me out and I called the doc immediately. I thought for sure something had torn or gone wrong. I didn't have any pain though. The doc said that about 3 weeks post surgery it's common for an internal scab to lift off and come out (thus the clot of blood) along with some mild bleeding. Sure enough it was cleared up within an hour.

Just wondering. Why did they say the cath had to be in for 3 weeks? I don't think the cath causes any bruising, but it is uncomfortable. My doc only had it in for 10 days. Guess all these docs have their own protocols.
