When I had q robotic prostatectomy in September, I was told that most of the nerve bundles had been embedded in a very enlarged prostate, and were lost. The surgeon said he'd attempted to save what he could, but that wasn't much. So I had low expectations for recovery of sexual function. Since then there have been some pleasant surprises. I hadn't realized that desire and orgasm could still be intact, and my wife and I are happy that we still can make love in other ways. I've had encouraging responses to Viagra, pretty much the old dimensions of erection and some elevation, but without the necessary firmness for penetration.
The surgeon was confident that injections would provide a usable erection, but so far that hasn't happened yet, though it's been close. We're still exploring techniques and dosages, and we've gotten conflicting information.
The surgeon originally told us to start by injecting .10 of the solution, and that produced zero results. So after two attempts, we went to his office. He injected the same amount, but with a considerably longer needle than we'd received from the pharmacist. It was much more effective, though not quite enough. The pharmacist said in his experience it was more common to start with .20 or .25, and some patients take up to a full cc. Since then we've injected .15 and .25 with the shorter needles. The last got a good result, almost but not quite.
The pharmacist thought it was possible that needle length could make a difference, and I'm going to get some of the longer needles from him, even though they scare the hell out of me.
I'd appreciate hearing from those who have had various experiences with the injections.

I started with Caverject Impulse, then Caverject injectionable powder.  I used 30 ga, 1/2 inch syringes.  The doc started me off at .5ml, which worked well for me, but gave me lots of aching, which after a few trials wasn't worth the results.  I think that the drug in Caverject is the best acting, but also the most problematic, giving pain and aching during use.  The Trimix has it, plus the other 2 drugs in it, and some men still have the same aching.  Bimix doesn't ache or cause pain, feels the most natural, but takes larger amounts to accomplish the same thing that the Caverject does.  It seems to be more varied in the response than Caverject does.  Placement of the drug is critical, miss it by just a little bit and you end up with a chubby for the evening.... :-)

Getting personal here, but if your penis is overly large or especially thick, then the longer needle would make sense.   .5ml isn't a really large dose of Caverject, so I'd try that.  Double check your injection technique and try it again, with either 1/2 inch or 5/16 inch needle.  If you are almost there now, then that should do the trick, so to speak...lol

A question:  How are you handling the Caverject- any pain or aching during use?

Thank you for your helpful comments. It always helps having the right information to ask the right questions, to doctors, pharmacists, and so on. No, I'm not that large, but I noticed a better result the one time with the longer needle, so I just picked up some of the half-inchers from the pharmacist. Still exploring, I guess.
I find the injections themselves painful, and the pain persists, but once the sexual activity gets going I forget about it. The pain generally seems to be gone within a couple of hours.
