As most of you know, this forum is paid for by the owner through on-line donations, along with some amount of advertising money. Costs for such a large site is enormous and keeping it up is a labor of love for the owner. Software and server space needs increase each year, as it becomes more successful and well-known. It takes money to keep the site working and to make each click speedy when you are reading it. That's server space and speed that is being used.


We last passed the hat in April, 08. Now may be the time to spend some money on something that hopefully has given you lots of information, comfort, support, new friendships, and other intangible benefits, all for free. Why not make a donation to Healing Well using Paypal or Amazon by clicking the Donate link above or by buying books at the WellnessBooks.com site by clicking the Bookstore Link above.

There are two options to donate to HealingWell.com. At the Donate link on the header, click on: Amazon.com’s Honor System ~ or ~ PayPal payment service. Both services allow you to use your credit card, debit card, or bank account.

I hope each of us will takes a moment to weigh how useful this site has been for us- in facts, comfort, a go-to place for questions, a place to share our triumphs and our sorrows, a place to call yours as we all battle this disease and donate accordingly. The last time, we were able to challenge the other groups on HW, resulting in the purchase of more server space, giving us faster access to the threads when we clicked. I figure there's upwards to 200 of us on Prostate Cancer, either active or lurking. $10 or $20 from each of us would go a long way to keep HW running at top performance and pay for expansion to improve service. So please think about, ok?

Great call James.

For all.  A little about what you would be helping.  For my part, I have willingly contributed here because the folks here at this site, members and site admin alike, has helped through one of the most difficult times in my life.  I volunteer here as well hoping to be able to repay some of that help.  Cancer has made me acutely aware that helping others is very rewarding.

HealingWell.com got its start over 10 years ago in 1996. With a staff of over 60 volunteers, the site is headed by founder and editor, Peter Waite. His vision was to build a site with global reach that was both free and informative and a place where people could find support and understanding. The site also includes our bookstore WellnessBooks.com, an Amazon.com affiliate, which offers a secure and convenient way for visitors to read reviews and purchase books on many health conditions.

Dear James,

Thanks for your very timely reminder that all we give and get here is on a voluntary basis and freely shared -We are over the Christmas debt hurdle (just!!) and happy to make a donation. Having been a member now for 14 months posting to the prostate board, we feel the moderation of this site is among the very best of the best, of the best! Thanks to all moderators for your information and support, particularly on behalf of my husband, for whom I post regularly. We would be lost without you.

You have excellent timing! yeah

This site has helped so many individuals, including myself, as an online support group.  The best one on the net!  And, as I have said before, our Administrator, Mr. Waite runs this site as a labor of love for that purpose.  Without his vision, this site would not be here.

I am fully supportive of the current nature and continued efforts of all those in the forum and I am getting out my "virtual" check book to donate as well.

I want to make sure there is no confusion as to my role in this.  I have nothing to do with the management, rule-making, or any other function of this site, other than being a grateful user.  I know how expensive running web sites are and I don't hesitate to try to support this one in the only way I know, with a little money and a request each 6 months or so to other users here to help keep this HW Forum going.  My request is as a private individual who recognizes the value of and rarity of good information and support from like-minded people who are all in this cancer-boat together.  The timing may have seemed bad, but I am not keeping score as to when the best time to squeeze in a plea for money, I plan to do it each 6 months, until people get sick of it and enough of them tells me to stop.... tongue

Thanks everyone for your support. It hasn't gone unnoticed by me. It does cost a lot to run HW, many thousands of dollars each year, but it has been worth it in all respects as I see the good it has accomplished.

  Hey ~ James, Thank you for this gentle reminder that every dollar counts. There are several ways to help and I've shared them above.   The neat thing about "OUR" FORUM... We will be here for "YOU"...   Not everyone will be in the position to donate money ~ and that's okay!   There are others who will be able to donate ~ and that's okay too!   Others will buy books from our bookstore... and others will wear our T-Shirts and hats.   HealingWell Prostate Forum is here for "YOU"... Your reminder is just what we need - I love this site for many reasons. The cyber companionship, advice, support & love we're all welcome to partake of is a lifesaver for many.
I remember when you did this last and the response was great.

Thank you for doing this and I will welcome the same post 6 months from now!
