Hi All. I have just got my path report and am gleason 3 = 3, but show 2 small positive margins. My doctor though seems optomistic and feels a 80% chance of nothing coming of this. From all my readings on +sm it states a significant drop is followup success rates. Maybe 50% or so in 5 years. If anyone has similar data regarding path report, please let me know your doctors opinion. Obviously they all wait till first psa test. Mine is in June 2008.

per op gleason 6, psa 2.5 Left lobe involve. 4/12 core posotive.

post op. gleason 3 = 3 left side involve, slight area right side. 2 POSITIVE MARGINS.

We’re sorry for the reason you’re had to find us, but so glad you decided to make us part of your journey.

There are many wonderful forum members here willing to listen, share, help, and pray for you.  There are those in this forum who have successfully faced challenges similar to your own.

I had a positive margin --- my doc told me that it was all in the PSA post surgery.   We checked it quite often --- my PSA DID rise about 5 months later, and that's when I went to the radiation oncologist.

I did a lot of reading in the mean time --- there are a lot of guys with positive margins that don't have a recurrence --- but it CAN suggest some cancer got left behind that can successfully be treated with salvage radiation.   I read some studies where some advocate radiation with a positive margin BEFORE the PSA rise ---- I would guess other factors (gleason, PSA before surgery, etc) come into play on that decision.  I came to the conclusin that I would radiate at the first PSA reading north of .2 ---- which is what I did, along with 6 months of hormone therapy.

So far so good 2 years post dx...hope this helps...GOOD LUCK!
