Treatrment Decision Time

I am 74 and a 6 year survivor of lung cancer and feel dam great.I an very active and a ranked tennis player in my age group.

Mt prostate biopsy was a gleason 3+3=6 a psa of 4.9, 1/2 half of 12 cores has 75% cancer all on right side.

After a meeting at Mass General with my urologist/surgeon a radiologist and a oncologist,radiation was suggested as best option,but not seeds due to volume of cancer.

I am leaning for proton beam, due to many good testimonials that I have read,but I have these questions.

I heard that the proton beam cannot be aligned as accurately as IMRT,that the effect of neutrons are unknown and proton beam has a higher risk for rectal toxicity.

Any help in making my decision is most appreciated.

I have not heard the negative views on Proton treatment you mentioned.

The protonbob site has lots of information from people who have been to Loma Linda.

The main reason that Proton isn't often suggested is that many are not familiar with it, largely because it has not been readily available to most people.

i me my doctor today for my treatment options (psa 3.82, gleason 3+4). the doctor was against seeds and recommended surgery? i am meeting an oncologist to discuss radiation treatment. the doctor still recommended surgery but wanted me to meet with oncologist so i can make my decision.
