Hey, it's been awhile since I've been on the board ... My brother-in-law says his PSA jumped from 1 to 13 in six months. Doctor did a re-test two days later, and the result was 52. Sounds like a lab error. Anyone hear or know of a similar experience. He is scheduled to have biopsy in the middle of May. I encouraged him to push doctor to hae it done as soon as possible. A 52, if real, would be a sign of advance prostate cancer. - El Paso Rudy

Were you here under another screen name? It might be possible you were a member of another board?

Any way. I agree with your assessment. That is an extremely fast jump and I would not wait to biopsy. But that stated two weeks is pretty quick. Some would say to wait and see if this is infection, but that is a very fast rise. And it's too high to assume it is.

Mine jumped from 1.8 to 9 in about a year, then to 14 three and one-half weeks later.  I had a biopsy done the day after the 14 results came in.  No way I was going to wait.

My urologist had a patient go from 0.4 to 30 in six months.

I to would not wait either, I had my biopsy done the day after my psa results came in and I am glad I did, granted once you know you have to deal with it, but not knowing can be worse. We are all hopeful that this could be an error or an infection, but in the event it is real, know our prayers and thoughts are with you, and thru a positive attitude many things are possible. Life is opening a new chapter, neither good nor bad in the begining, but in the end together we will make it good. Stick with us here on healing well and let us know how things go.

My psa was 4ish, MRI was negative. Did biopsy just to rule out PCa since no symptoms and no family history;but I am glad I did. Ask your brother in law to get the biopsy done as a matter of urgency.

My Uncle's jumped from 2 to 8 in about 18 months. His journey is in my signature. The sooner the better for a biopsy. I felt we had to wait so long.
