I'm now two weeks and two days post surgery and this morning while taking a shower, and cleaning the underside of my penis, I felt an erection. The penis grew about half the size to my original prior to surgery. By the time I finish my shower it was gone. I have not used any aid as yet with the exception of Levitra (20mg) every other day as prescribed by my doctor.
I've purchased the vacuum pump but he told me to use it after two weeks which will be next Tuesday. I'm just wondering if this is normal for only a couple of weeks after surgery.

Kris, with prostate cancer surgery recovery, what is normal is a very subjective thing.

With that said, any kind of erection this soon is excellent news.

I had an erection soon after surgery in the morning with the Cath in.  I had good erections after the Cath was removed with out medication and especially with. Thats the good news,  now the nots so good.  I am six weeks out and I feel my erections and desire are same or less.  Intercourse has been cancelled for it is very difficult with the leakage continuing.

It is has been my experience that this ED thing is up and down ( yeah ) .  We will all be different but any feeling down under has to be a good thing for the future.

Kris you are doing fabulous !!!!

any feeling down there means your nerves are there and in good shape.. if you can start doing the Pump Therapy as soon as you can on a daily basis and that should promote more blood flow to that very important ORGAN we all MEN worry about ...

That sound like great news to me too!

I didn't have nerve sparing, so I expect it will be a long time (1-2 years, if ever) before I am in that delightful situation. The best I can do naturally is occasionally feel a vague stirring in my nether regions if I think lustful thoughts :-)

Piano you should try the pump therapy it promotes artificial erections by helping blod low to the penis .. i hope in time you will find the way to make Mr. happy HAPPY AGAIN !! lol

KrisP, Any feelings or movement down there at any time is a good sign. Give your body time to heal and just work on it. I'm sure you will be UP to your old tricks soon.

WOW. You're lucky. Plain and simple. Sure wait two weeks to really test it out. My nurse admonished me strongly to wait 6 weeks to do anything. My Dr, on the other hand, told me to do whatever I wanted and have fun! You'd think they would talk to each other! But, good news for you! The first orgasms are kinda scary and weird. They will get better. You give other guys hope and a goal, though.

My surgery was April 18, so I think we're close in our recovery time. I asked about the pump when I had the catheter removed, and the nurse told me that I should give the Cialis some time to work first. I decided not to get one and instead give myself some time.(By the way, when I asked the nurse how long to wait before having sex, she replied that the doctor usually advises his patients to at least wait until they get to the car).

Surprisingly, I've been able to experience full and partial erections (with manual encouragement) in and out of the shower. I've been so encouraged, that my wife and I tried intercourse this past weekend...and we both enjoyed it, even without a 100% "useable" erection and the "happy ending" that I used to experience! The nurse told me that increasing the blood flow is important in the healing process, and from what I've read and heard from others, whatever you can do to make that happen improves the odds for recovery. So I say let's carry on - after all, it's therapeutic! yeah

This is Great News for you both JFK and KRISP....it seems to me in general that with a nerve sparing surgery the DaVinci robotic procedure is the less invasive one of the 2 (compare to open) and the recovery period seems to be much faster ..as had mention n other posts if i had to do it again the only thing i would change is Robotic oppose to my open surgery....however i am on the right track these days an i hope soon i ca be back to pre surgery shape....as far as golfing ..i did not have the chance to get on the course yet BUT i hope soon i will be with the better weather reproaching
