Reduced stream after Robotic surgery

I guess nobody else has experienced your problem from surgery! I had IMRT and a stricture in the urethra was formed, probably scarring from the radiation. My understanding is there are a few of ways to deal with the scarring. Cutting it to open things back up and dilation are the two I’m aware of. Like you, I’ve also read that the strictures can reoccur. In my case, my uro opted to dilation. In effect he stretched the urethra in the area of the stricture (not as horrible as it sounds!). Then I was in a Foley for three weeks (not fun). My uro then put me on a program of “clean intermittent cataterization” (CIC). This entailed doing a self- cath three times a day for a few weeks, then two times a day for a few weeks, then once a day…this has been going on since last October and now I just do it every three or four days. The idea is to keep the stricture from closing again. It has worked great. Peeing like a 20 year old. Doing the self-cath only takes a few minutes and I’ve not had any problems with infection or anything. One does need to keep things clean though. You might want to ask your uro about this approach.
