On a couple of posts on this forum I have read that after prostate removal it is common to leak or squirt urine during foreplay or sexual intercourse. Is this true? If this problem exists, does it pass with time? I had my prostate removed on 6/13/08 and couldn't come close to having sex at this point. (Still dealing with the incontinence issue. One thing at a time, I figure.) But I would like to know if this problem is common. Has anyone encountered this issue?

I happy to report no squirting here, but I'm also continent now.... as for sex I'm thinking of joining the priesthood shocked

Early on there was a bit of urine at orgasm, but that has gone away. Just empty the bladder before hand and you should be fine. Also, kegels help at point of orgasm...and believe it or not, intensifies the orgasm as well. There are guys who gush urine at orgasm, but they are rare.

during foreplay, in the old days, we subconciously relaxed the sphincter and the prostate closed its own valve. This happened at the very fist stage of arousal. Now when that happens, our one and only urine control opens and we will leak. Just get used to the fact that kegels are now a way of life for you in every situation. I have found that one moment of erotic thought...and if I'm standing...can result in a damp spot.

Leaking urine during sex is very common.  It is called Climacturia.  I am 7 months post-op and dealing with it.  I try to empty my bladder before sex.  It can be prevented by using a VED with constriction rings or a propholactic.  I am having a hard time trying to get info on the web.  I am trying to retrain the one sphincter I have left to correct the problem.

Yes...sometimes it does. Most of the time it will dry up as you do. Look back a few pages on the posting board there are some other postings on this.

i too may be joining the priesthood! i am continent and have had moderate erections with pills and pump but not firm enough for sex. i have had orgasms through mxxterxxtion (doctor's orders) and have had no leakage. i am close to 4 months post op.

I had leakage of urine with orgasm for several months after my surgery.  I asked my surgeon about it and he said that about 40% of men with a prostatectomy will have this occur for a while.  I now do not have the problem as long as I empty my bladder before sex.

I am 4 plus years post opt from robotic surgery and I am very lucky in that I have had no ED issues what so ever after my surgery, and  I am able to achieve 100% rock solid erections without taking any drugs.  The only problem I do have is that I leak and squirt urine uncontrolably during foreplay and intercourse, and it has been that way since my surgery without any improvement.  I am 100% dry other times, but as soon as I start to feel sexually aroused, I will start to feel my splinkter muscle relax and I will start to drip uncontrolably.

What is even worse, is that when I have an orgasm, I now ejeculate urine. I can ejeculate urine with such force, that I can hit the cieling on a good orgasm. NO LIE!  My orgasmic contraction is so forceful that I can ejeculate urine across the room.  Matter of fact, I ejeculate urine with more force now without my prostate, then I ejeculated seman with my prostate. Figure that out.

Even if I try to empty my bladder completely before sex, I will still drip a little, and ejeculate urine during orgasm. Using a condom does not work because with a condom I loose the sense of friction, and I will loose my erection immediately.

You just don't know how frustrating it is. Sex is not fun anymore. Now I have to place towels all over the bed so I don't wet the sheets. What is even worst is that I have to be carefull not to drip on my partner.  Dripping urine seems to be a big turnoff to women.

Oral sex is completely out of the question now.  I don't khow of any woman who likes urine in her mouth.

My uro said urine is steril and if you get some in your partner or in her mouth, it won't hurt her.  Well just try telling that to a woman! I asked my uro if there was a pill I could take that would change the color of my urine to white.  At least if I am going to drip and ejeculate urine, at least have it look like seman. Uro laughed.

What I have found through experience is that if I drink a lot of water a few hours before sex, it dilutes the urine and eliminates the odor.  At least if I am going to drip, it will be without smell.  I also found that having your partner on top when you have your orgasm helps reduce the amount of urine ejeculated  because of gravity.

I have only had this happen  once and my wife kinda freak out at first then she was cool about it. I was more embarrassed about it than she was upset. But it is always in the back of my mind every time I have sex and it kinda spoils it for me. My wife was not into oral sex before now I don't think I could let her do it if she did offer.

I leak and when I do my wife says" I caused that" and laughs. Ya gotta love her for that!

Hey DooWopNow,

I am now 28 months post RPP, and I have struggled with this very thing since the surgery. I am continent all of the time, EXCEPT when I see my sexy wife naked, or even think of approaching her with sexual interest. And, then I discovered, that drinking red wine ahead of sexual contact makes it even 10 times worse. In those cases, urine just pours out as it did following the surgery, during the period that I was trying to get continence back. And, that part, I have never been able to understand. I can drink Bourbon and I do not have that much trouble with it.

But, it is very frustrating and can be embarrassing at times. Fortunately, my wife understands what is happening, and I think she actually derives some satisfaction in knowing that just my looking at her can produce wet underwear. I know, I know,......who ever said that the two of us are normal.

So when and if I do get an erection strong enough to have intercourse with my wife again, I can expect this problem? Not quite the dry ejaculation talked about in books and with my Uro confused  

At this point I just hope I will be able to return to my pre-surgery twice a week fun with my wife. Since RRP I have had a stronger libido than before but so far can not do anything with it.  Going to try injections next week as my Uro keeps stressing how important that I get blood flow back in my penis at least twice a week. He also told me do some "self Stimulating" while taking daily Cialis  and I did have an Orgasm doing that with no urine leakage but I guess that is not the same as having the Orgasm with an erection.
