Newbie awaiting lab results

 Have I got prostitites or cancer??? I am 59 years and do not have the correct dates etc on me but a few years ago was sent to a specialist from my doctor with a psa that went from 4 to 10 in 6months. Off for a biopsy (awake) and result back as benign enlargment with a sign of recent prostitites. I was put on a bout of anti biotics. Follow up psa tests in 6 month periods showed a drop to 5 which pleased my doctor. Then a rise or the DRE showed a bit of roughness on the prostate which doc said could be scaring from prostitites infection but needed to be sure. Off for another biopsy (under sedation) and came back as negative. My regular 6 monthly follow up psa tests have steadied at about 8 but the last one has jumped to 12 and I am now awaiting the result tomorrow from another sedated biopsy(going around and around in circles waiting). I did bring my test forward a month early due to things not being right in the weeing dept , muscle pain etc and decided to have the psa test while feeling like this to see if the prostitites was causing this. Have I got prostitites or cancer as both present same symptoms. No blood or pain in weeing etc. Sorry for the long post.

You have the results of two previous biopsies, both showing negative for PCa, so that is a good sign. PCa is slow-growing, so even if your latest biopsy shows it, it won't be very far advanced, and so should be "curable". PCa in its early stages shows no symptoms, so your pains and urinary problems are not likely to be caused by that.

However, given your BPH and history of prostatitis, it could likely be another bout of that. The biopsy will reveal all. Fingers crossed for a good result....
