Day 55: New Operation Scheduled

Well, my dr. office called this afternoon, instead of scheduling another procedure at the dr. office on Friday as I had been told Monday, they have scheduled a surgery at St. Francis Hospital in Greenille at Noon, Tuesday the 13th.  Was told to report there 2 hours a head of time.  I am suppose to go to pre-op tommorow afternoon at 2:30 and was told to expect two hours.  I asked the nurse exactly what my dr. was calling this operation and what was the game plan.  She claimed she didn't exactly know, and didn't want to give me the wrong information.  That did a lot f or my confidence.

This day surgery will be almost 2 months to the day of my open RP.  Today makes 8 weeks since tha surgery, and as most know here, will be day 56 on the catheter.  I am wondering what they are going to do, was told will be all explained at pre-op.  I can only imagine another week or two on what will be cath #5 at that point to heal from this mystery operation.

If I don't get a satisfactory and clear answer at pre-op, you can be assured I will be calling my dr. at all costs.

Like my poor wife said upon hearing this development, there's no end to this.

Thats what I am thinking and hoping, the dr. might feel he's got one good shot to correct this, and wants to do it under the best of conditions. Him I trust, the rest of his staff has been flaky at best.

Good luck David...I know that this has been a very long and difficult situation. I am confident that your doctor is wanting to give this the best possible shot at correcting this catheter issue once and for all. I believe what will take place is what James said. Hang in there...

I hope this surgery is successful and you can finally get on the road to recovery.  Best of luck to you.  I hope your Dr. brings his A game.

gee jersey, i have no desire to be a star here *blush*, in real life, i am a very private person, don't' like to seek the lime light, hate to be photoed. Writing is my thing, so perhaps I am being too descriptive here. I don't consider my case to be any more special or interesting then anyone elses.

I feel for the other men and their wives and families as much as my own, we are in a unique club, one we hate to be in, but it is what it is, and we are here to help each other through the tough times.

diane: my thoughts will be on you and pete as he has his surgery tommorow, glad his uti cleared up in time, as i am sure you two want to get this behind you too, and oh boy, more healing.

Even though I've nearly turned back into a lurker, I think of you (and the rest of the gang) often. Tuesday it is, another milestone. Do you even know if you will stay overnight? Just wondering when we can hope to hear a report from you. If it's what many of us guess, it shouldn't be anywhere near as complicated as the previous surgery.

Thanks guys, that's what I am hoping for. My mom is back in her own house now, and we are hoping for the best. The stroke was fairly mild considering her age, and it only affected her speech and communications, which has improved remarkebly in just 2 weeks.
