RPP and Hernias?

I was wondering, does the RPP procedure make one more prone to having hernias where the inscisions were made?  I have already had two inguinal hernias repaired years ago with mesh.  my job is very physical with lots of lifting, pushing, pulling, etc.  (I am a government fleet mechanic and I keep 27 Harley Davidson Police Road Kings on the road). 

I have been released to go back to work on modified duty at week 4 post op.  I will be doing paperwork in the office until I can resume my normal duties.

Since no one else has chimed in yet....I'd guess "probably not" more prone.

When I was doing my abdominal hernia surgery, I was told there are no guarantees that the repair would last forever.

There have been several men here who reported that they had hernias after prostate surgery.  You should do some research and discuss it with your urologist.

I never even thought about that until one day recently when we were moving HEAVY stuff at work. (I work in maintenance.) After several really heavy things I thought...hernia. But nothing happened. So must not have been too bad....

I underwent RRP on March 23, 08

My Dr. Told me to lift nothing heavier than a gallon of milk UFN.

# weeks after surgery, I helped move my house "Just a little".

I will be scheduling surgery for my inguinal hernia next month or so.

ADVICE: Let your wife and kids do EVERYTHING.

Any surgical procedure that opens the abdominal muscular wall leaves one more prone to hernias, and RRP is no exception. In my case, I didn't develop a hernia, but got a little sore at largest incision site because I overdid it physically, took it easy after that for 6 to 8 weeks.
