I have'nt been on the forum for a few weeks and want to give an update for the many posters who responded to my surgical questions.

I had a radical retropubic prostatectomy 12-15-2008, tube out 2 weeks later.

I guess I've been lucky so far, I am back to work, I'm working out trying to loose the weight I put on piloting my recliner for a month. I feel great, no pads needed. I'm working on the ED issues, I am sure this will be resolved as well. Hard to believe what has transpired in the last 2 months; alot of anxious waiting, as I will feel again in march waiting for my first post op psa. (AZ just scored) 

One positive point about this whole experience, it has made me more sensitive to what is happening to other people in my life.(great game). Good luck to all. Mark.(both feet in, Steelers win?)

Good news, Mark. Yep, Steelers win. Good game. Sounds like all is working well for you. Stay on top of the ed issues, and I'm sure they will resolve themselves. Let mother Nature take her course as she is a very patient lady.

Quick note. Saw Springsteen baack in August in K.C., one and a half hours late starting for my $100.00 ticket, but a good show. Seems like if the really big money is there he can start on time and finish on time. More power to you, Boss.

congrats for being on this side of your surgery. sounds like you are having a pretty good recovery so far. good on the incontinence part, and as you know, the ED part can really vary as far as time, etc. keep us posted all the way. glad you are back

Glad you are on the mend. On the working out part I was very active prior to the surgery and did 30 minutes of cardio 3 times a week and 30 minutes of free weights twice weekly. I attempted to begin back with the cardio at about 3 weeks and found that my endurance was zip, five minutes exhuasted me. It was shortly after that that I was administered the ADT so I really don't know what a more normal recovery of endurance is. Once I got over the effects of the ADT and radiation a year later I was able to pick up and am presently back to about 75% of my former endurance.

I post this just to suggest that if you find you lack endurance don't get discouraged, it may take a bit but it will come back.
