Don Imus blaming his PC on stress?

Was just watching an interview with Don Imus since he got his dx on PC.  He said he exercised regularly and mostly ate organic vegetarian foods, sounded like he was clearly looking for a direct blame for his cancer.  He went on to say that it might have been stress from all the cameras all around him all the time.  The news medical reporter did add that there wasn't any hard evidence that stress caused the cancer.

Poor Don, famous or not, wealthy or not, is trying to come to terms with the dreaded Cancer.  Blame is part of the process we all go through in coming to terms with Cancer.  I know I did, and still do even months later after treatment.  The "what could I have done different" syndrome will drive you crazy after awhile.

I am sure Don will get the very best care and advice, and hopefully his Stage II PC will be contained, I believe he's currently 68 years old.  I wish him only the best in his treatment and ultimate recovery.

Even Imus shouldn't have to face prostate  cancer. Good luck to him.

C'mon, mj, no need to resort to insults like that.  The poor man has cancer for goodness sake!  How about just a little compassion...

The last thing that should be done is insult someone who has been diagnosed with cancer.

As I stated I would not wish prostate cancer on anyone, including Imus but I'm not so sure that my comments can be considered an insult, anymore than referring to OJ as a murderer is insulting him.( poor analogy but you get the point)

I read in an earlier post where you guys are trying to contact Imus and have him post his story on this forum. Bad move.

I guarantee you there are lot of people who would be very upset, maybe even insulted by this. They have no interest in hearing anything that Don Imus has to say,and who can blame them. How about a little compassion for those people.

Send Imus a card or remember him in your prayers, but keep him away from this forum. Well or sick, for many he's bad news.

Now if O.J had prostate cancer and wanted to post of his PCa experiences and ask questions on this forum relevant to that cancer, I would hope that he would be welcomed with open arms. Not to do so would be a first step to only allow in those whose actions and views we at least partially share. What would be next...........ostracize those who do not subscribe to the religious views often expressed here. That would be a sad day indeed. (remember Voltaire?)

This site is open to anyone who comes here within the rules and posting on topic. We should be able to be who we are as long as we are not attempting to tread on others. We are neither judge nor jury here. The part of editing others words, as moderators, is in fact a very difficult thing to do. We are as lax as we can be with the rules, but let's consider discussing something that makes this a great support group not a secular site. We have had public people here before and their anonymity is important to them. You probably won't know when they are here.

At this site we are all survivors. May peace remain.

As I stated earlier, I considered your comments about Mr. Imus insulting, inappropriate and lacking compassion. I'm glad the moderators removed them.  If Mr. Imus wants to post here, he should be welcomed, IMO.

I agree fully. All should be welcomed here in the context of PC. For opinions to be flowing freely, and in the spirit of freedom of the press and expression, then we should never deny entrance to anyone, even someone of controversy. When I lived in NH for years, always liked there motto, "Live free, or die."

I have been thinking about what I have written and the response of my fellow members on this forum. Either you have all missed the point or I am wrong, the latter seeming more likely. The generosity of spirit shown here is impressive. It is a very special place.

By the way, I see from your signature that you are diagnosed, but don't see that you have chosen a treatment.  How is that decision going or have I missed that in another post?

Thanks for asking. My first choice was " watchful waiting" or "active surveillance" but have just recently been advised by an expert that I am not a good candidate for that approach for two reasons, first being that two of the four cancerous samples showed 80% and 90% involvement and second being the fact that a significant nodule or tumor can be felt on the digital examination.

I am now resigned to the fact that I need to take action and will make a decision within a couple of weeks, once I have completed my research(on this forum and elsewhere) and spoken with a few people who have had different procedures for prostate cancer.

At this point in time I am leaning toward either Brachytherapy or HIFU, although I have not entirely ruled out surgery- the option with the best chance of minimal side-effects will be my choice- figuring that out is the task at hand.

I recently posted some "active surveillance" guidelines from Johns Hopkins on another thread and, yeah, per those guidelines anyway, they would not have recommended that approach for you.

As you are considering brachytherapy, you can see from my signature that was my choice.  You can click the link to see my journey, which probably includes more than you would want to hear!  In any case, there are plenty of folks here that can provide you with surgery advice, a few with HIFU and I would be happy to provide any help I can on seeding.

Hopefully you are talking with surgeons (robotic and open), as well as a radiation oncologist and prostate oncologist to learn everything you can so you can make an informed decision.  I also had a telephone consult with the docs in Jacksonville re proton beam therapy and did a fair amount of research on HIFU.  At one point I narrowed it down to robotic surgery and brachytherapy and had appointments for both procedures...finally cancelling the surgery and going with brachy.

Good luck in your decision and I'm glad you are taking the time to do your research.  Believe me, once you make a choice you will find some relief..

Please let us know what you choose and how you're doing.

Sorry, Imus is just another self appointed armchair polotitian.  68?  Gee whiz, he could have retired what? 8 years ago. Maybe that would have eliminated all that STRESS.  Sorry, no sympathy here.

The truth be known, nobody is really sure WHAT causes PCa.  It isn't drinking or smoking.
