pain developed between my scrotom and anus 5 weeks after surgery

I had Davinci surgery 6 weeks ago and I have developed a pain between my scrotem and rectum that is very uncomfortable.I dont know if its just a healing process or something else.This discomfort developed 5 weeks after surgery.Has any others experienced this and what could it be

Hi 12,

I've had a couple instances of similar discomfort since surgery.  As was explained to me, during surgery some (connective) tissue between the prostate and rectum is scraped away/removed (from the rectum). This can cause a good deal of discomfort and take a few months to heal. My surgeon told me to call him if it continues. Otherwise my recovery from surgery has been going good.

I think part of it is my particular physiology, too. I've got a small butt and when I sit, I put a fair bit of pressure directly on that area...even when using a donut pillow. Also, I've increased my fiber intake which helps keep stool soft and keeps the bowels moving (reduces BM pressure).

Hope this helps. I'd recommend letting your surgeon know, anyhow.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me but it was just 2 or 3 weeks later. It was at it's worst when I just stood still or sat on a hard surface. Walking, even a few miles, no problem. Sitting on soft chair was a must. It lasted for a good 6 months and even after that sitting on a hard chair it would flare up again.

This subject has come up in the past and as I recall quite a few guys were experiancing the same thing, so it is quite common and it will abate after a while.

Excessive kegaling can cause some pain in that general area as well.

Welcome 128735,

I have this ongoing pain also, starting at about three weeks - right when I went back to work.  It is getting better for me as time goes on.

I mentioned it to my Doc at my checkup 7 weeks after surgery.  He said it is not uncommon.  It is more specific to the Davinci procedure, but doesn't know why.

Also, would you mind posting a signature so that we can follow your journey?

I've had that exact pain for 5 months now and can't shake it off.
Talked to the specialist 3 times about and get told give it time.
I just don't know what causes the pain, but I hate it. Can't sit straight on a hard chair, can't ride my motorbike.

My urine stream had slowed down as well over the past month as well. Phone call to the specialist and told to see how it all goes over the next month or so. Oh happy days. shakehead

I have had a gut feeling for quite a while there may be more to this than I know or are being told.
Quite frankly as I feel right at this moment after having lost my great lifestyle including a proper sex life with my wife I'm sorry I had the thing chopped out.

Thanks for the replies and Ozvic sounds close to my problem .Its in the pereneum area and I cant really walk or move without this constant pain taking place.The doctor said it might be an infection so he started me on cypro.Ill give it some time then I got to do something im really getting depressed about this.

BELEIVE IT OR NOT ITS MORE NORMAL THAN YOU THINK BROTHER, I HAD THE SAME THING YOULL BE FINE  ID GIVE IT AWHILE MAYBE 8 TO 10 WEEKS AT LEAST YOU SHOULD BE FAIRLY GOOD AFTER THAT ,LOTS OF BRUISING  AND DAMAGE DOWN THERE  GOTTA REMEMBER THAT ...DIRT eyes

Thanks Dirt you at least give me hope that im not going to have this for a long time.I thought it was just me and i did something wrong.It sure is good to come on here and get other survivers take on whatever needs to be questioned .you make me feel good now .I was getting pretty down in the dumps
