Brothers in the Battle,

In the war called cancer there are so many fronts that it boggles the mind. Having been involuntarily drafted into the journey my mind is now opened to a universe that I only knew vicariously through others. Today's New York Times has a very well wrotten article about the war as told through patients and Docs at M.D. Andeson Horpital in Houston.

Though our journey is rough, the prospects for recovery are, in general very good when you remind yourself about what others are going through.

"Ditto..Though our journey is rough" it sure could be a lot worse.

Sixty Minutes did a show on Epilepsy last night. More people die from it each year then from Breast Cancer yet Epilepsy has only a fraction of the research and funds.

So yes, I am greatfull to be where I'm at cause I know it could be worse.

Despite my own setbacks, I see much worse in the waiting room at the Radiation Clinic every day. Good point.

We are fortunate to be able to correspond with each other and share healing experiences, where others have it far worse. As an elderly friend of mine often says, "Every day above ground is a bonus!".

I have always said that every day is a bonus, also. Recently I was talking with an elderly gentlemen who passed along 2 other pearls of wisdom;

1- Never pass up a chance to pee.

2- Never trust a fart.

LOL, LOL, I thought, truer words were never spoken and so aptly apply to the the PCa community and he was not a member of the brotherhood.

Speaking of worse situation, my daughter called last night, not long after spending the weekend with me, her husband's best friend was visiting their home last night, and he got the call, his Aunt and Uncle (both early 70s) were murdered and their bodies found along side a road. It instantly made me forget everything going on with me, and my heart was wrenched for hours. Ive only met the guy once or twice, real good people.

I saw this article and one of the points was that for most kinds of cancer the outlook is pretty bleak. We can be very thankful that PC is quite different in prognosis. We are not "dead men walking" we are sick men recovering. Out hearts go out to those who are not so fortunate.
