Today the pain gods were fairly decent until about
an hour before I went to the clinic. This session drug on for about
35 minutes. And boy, when that 7th position was done, I felt a strong searing burning right at the exit of the SP catheter. Not a mild hurt, felt like someone stuck a hot nail the size of pencil where it comes out. Took both operators to help me back up on my feet. They had the nurse look at it, but of course, there is nothing to be seen on the outside. I am sure that it is just the aftermath of another good dose of radiation in a sensitive area. There may only be 7 left, but they can't disapear fast enough as far as I am concerned.
While waiting, I have gotten to know this man and his wife, he is there with a bad case of cancer of the mouth, and no, he never smoked, chewed, or dipped in his life. He is in misery, can't drink or eat anything without pain. As it were, his radiation dr. is the same one I had 10 years ago, and at that time, for similar reasons, he suggested eating green grapes to aid the discomfort. I don't remember, but there is some chemical in the grapes that helps. It helped at the time. I know this guy has it rough, something about mouth/neck/throat/head radiation is the worse.
Another one down, now just to get rid of my current pain and nausea, and off to the races again tommorow.
