Since this "nuisance" has now lingered more than 6 weeks post surgery, the note at the bottom of my bio will explain that years of obesity have consequences.
My surgery was a "success" and my prognosis is excellent, and my recovery except for this 3/4 inch wound is going well...
but even the best doctors and hospitals don't make up for the consequences of our life styles and personal health. The docs say that slow wound healing and complications are very common with obese patients whose surgery--even laproscopic--requried cutting through lots of fat cells which "get granulated and rise to the surface mixed with plasma as they heal." There is no doctor in my town and they had to teach my wife to be a "pioneer doctor" and use hydrogen peroxide, ribbons of sterile gauze shoved into the wound, surgical dressings and tapes twice a day, and two hot baths daily with "irrigation" and more peroxide and rinsing....ironidaqlly as I hardly ever need pads for "leaks" any more, I need them to protect my undies and clothes from the oozing goo which comes through the gauze.
I was on antibiotics for one week but the two docs I am using said there is no infection, no fever, and this is a mild healing problem which is common when you are fat.
So, just a word to the wise if you experience the same thing, you're not the first, or probably the last.
happy holidays to all...

Have irrigated and say there is no infection just
“granulated fat cells dying and coming to the
surface from small surgery wound under navel, common
for obese patients. Must bathe, disinfect, and dress wound
twice daily. “It can take 6 months for this to heal” says the
docs. After 6-8 hours pinkish brown puss appears on gauze.
