still fighting bladder neck restriction

hey guys sorry i have not been responsive lately, i just had to take a break. david, sorry to hear of your bad day. i know from the way you wrote you were in such pain. a good writer has his readers feel the emotions of his words. i feel for you brother. i am still pluged. had another cysto today. i watched the scene on the tv as he was doing it. when the scope got near the bladder it looked like a smashed straw for about one inch then it opened up in to the bladder. i saw the problem first hand. my uro wants to talk to the surgen about the best possible course of action for he is worried that if he cuts on it it may make me totaly incontent. he is not a surgeon so i think my best solution is to get a second opion from another surgeon. im not going back to the origional surgeon for personal reasons. im just going to take my time in this matter so i dont make a hasty decision. only time will tell the outcome.

Neil, You know I am feeling for you too. We have had similar issues. My surgeon, who is very skilled, worried each time he did a corrective surgery on my bladder neck, he told me, it would be so easy to leave me perm. incontinent. Make sure you talk to a good surgeon with good uro skills. The first correction, he cut away the scarring, and made two small slits to aid in flow. It worked for a few months. The second time, after almost a total blockage, he used a laser to clear the area, it only lasted barely a month. On the last attempt, he simply installed the SP catheter, and did a hard dialation of the bladder neck while I was under, in an attempt to help keep it open while I went through radiation.

Right now, don't let them rush you off the catheter, I am sure you know by now, even though they are a nuisance and a hassle, it still better to deal with a cath in place, then to keep being put into severely painful situations.

I hope your dr and a good surgeon can fix you up on the first try, I know what you are going through. Please keep us posted and/or email me if you wish.

hey david im not wearing the cather. i self cather when i cant get enough out. i can p a little but it takes a long time to empty my bladder. neil

Sorry, Neil. i forgot that part from the last time you posted. If you are able to do that, that is at least a safety in place for you while they are trying to work a perm solution for you.

I am not a good candidate for self cath. Been discussed a time or two with my dr over the months.

hello everyone had a great day today. no self catherization. started on two flowmax pills. one in mouring, no pun intended, one in evening. i got to find some humor in this ordeal. no jeff i am not frustrated in this situiation because to be frustrated means to me you are loosing the battle mentaly. i just keep on keeping on. its all i can do. the flowmax seems to be working now. im not 100% but its better than where i was at. i thought flowmax was to shrink a large prostate? if its just a mental thing taking the pills then its working. i dont think i would be preiscribed the meds if my uro didnt think they would do any good. something has changed the last two days and finally its something i see as good. i hope every one with a problem here can get it worked out. im not out of the woods yet but as long as things get better its all i can ask.

Charles Maac on the US TOO Witchata KA website has a list of the best doctors in the PC world by speciality. One of the specialities is salvage of the urinary sytem. It might be worth while to see one of these specialists.

Hate to hear about the troubles you all are having. I thought being a "leaker" was bad. Keep your spirits up.

kw, neither are great options, being a leaker has problems of its own, and so aggervating for sure, but being a "blocked up" cause a lot of physical pain and panic for relief. Guess its like being asked if you want to get shot or stabbed. The best answer is to have neither problem.

thanks for the info john t . but going out of state is not a option for me. kw let me tell you to be blocked is bad news. but you deal with it by keeping your spirits up. thanks for the concern. no i dont want to be shot or stabbed but dealing with the side effects of pc is something that comes with the procedure. your going to experience some problems just be thankful if you find yourself in a happy medium. thanks guys for the concerns, neil

hey guys while im still waiting for two days for the uro to call me back something struck me as odd and very much there. noone wants to solve this problem for me. it may be a blessing in diguise for the flowmax is doing me real good. when you take for granted a simple thing as a good p and then cant because of pc problems. then if you can p a little it becomes a good thing. i located a uro surgen today but is booked up until jan. gives me time to see how good im doing on this flowmax. something still has to be done surgicaly. time with my problem gives me a better understanding of what i want to be done. neil
