In order to find the best treatment you need to know your risk type. The following from the Prostate Cancer Research Institute outlines the criteria and the approptiate treatment. Combination therapy for high risk PC means a combination of any of the two or three treatment options, surgery, radiation and HT. Also not the recommendation for low risk is"No Treatment.

Find Out Your Risk Level — “Your Type”

Before selecting treatment the first thing to learn is your personal “Risk Level”.

The chart below shows the way doctors measure Risk Level. You can compare your own test results to this chart to understand your Risk Level.

- To be “Low-Risk”, all your results must meet the Low-Risk standards in the green row in the table below. Even one result outside the green means you are either Intermediate-Risk (Yellow) High-Risk (Red)
- Not all experts agree on the exact line between Intermediate-Risk and High-Risk.
- Some say that having two or more scores in the Intermediate range raises the risk to High.
- Others believe that you are not High-Risk until you have one or more tests that are clearly in the High-Risk range.

Yikes! I just ran my numbers and see that I was dealt a Flush in red with one discard. Gleason 7, Number of cores: 57%, PSA 23, PSA Velocity 6 in three months, PSA density:0.4.
Now I have a have a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach as well as wet pants.

Good information source and part of ones well balanced education in PCa, the click on link in Blue(color near bottom left) to "Newly Diagnosed" is excellent reading. Nice link John.

Interesting, John.

So with one on the intermediate, and two on the high risk chart, then I guess that would make me high risk?

John, good quick tool you put here. I knew my situation right from the get go with my PSA velocity, I had read all the early reports on that subject long before it became an accpeted fact. I also realize my low odds in this SRT working, my own doctor's are all too aware of that, but I would rather have straight shooters.

Geez Louise, once again my path becomes muddy. My numbers put me squarely in the low risk group but my number of positive cores is right at the top of the range. My wife feels that surgery now is our best bet to get this behind us but i am struggling mightly with this decision. I will say the thought of other pos. cores if they had been taken alittle left or alittle right has made me lean more toward Mr. Roboto. Wow my brain hurts! Tim
