Hello Friends,

I read this forum regularly and feel like I am becoming friends of you all. It has been very informative and helpful to read about others struggles with this "beast". I posted a question previously on this form about ED and penile rehabilitation and someone referred me to a book (thank you) entitled " Saving your sex life: a guide for men with prostate cancer" by Dr. John Mulhall. I got the book and read it and found it very informative. He felt that for penile rehabilitation that you should use injections 3 times a week. The VED does not do much good because it is bringing in old blood. Dr. Patrick Walsh seems to agree with this in his most recent book. My ED specialist in MN is recommending that I use the VED every other day for 15 min and take 20 mg of Cialis twice a week. Is their any new thinking in using a VED for rehabilitation? I am currently in the Tucson area and would have to fly back to MN to have my ED specialist teach how to use injections. Does anyone know of a ED specialist in the Tucson area that I could use?

OLD Blood...As in blood that was left in the trash can and re-injected into your body???

JUST KIDDING....VED and the pills have been the recommended deal for a long time....

The whole idea is to have blood flow little pee wee to help keep alive.

Rick, I have seen a couple studies that said that penile injections showed promise to accelerate rehabilitation of function. That's the basis for my continuing to do it after 2 1/2 years of failure- I can't give up hope yet.

As to flying to MN, there is a lot of urologists in the Tucson area who would be able to instruct you in the injecting, or you can teach yourself. It's no big complicated deal, other than getting the prescription and needles. There's lots of instructional material on the net, and I'm willing to bet there's someone here who could mentor you.

Rick I just started injections and already notice a difference. It is so simple to do. No Pain at all.

Hi Rick,

I do believe you can do any of the 3 ( Injections, or Cialis and VED). The goal is not to just get blood flow, you need to get full erections and have intercourse to be in a full rehab mode.

I use a Autoinjector and the learning curve is simple, you never see a needle enter your skin. It does take a few times to perfect your dosage, and technique but that is not done at a Dr's office. My Dr likes to see me every other month and examine Mr Happy to make sure all is ok, you will likely need to find someone somewhat local.

For me, the Trimix injections have been super. 100% success rate over the past 3-4 months, 3-4 times a week, Hour and a half erections, no pain. And far cheaper than even generic oral ed drugs ( which for me do not work yet). Once you use the injections you will be kicking yourself for not getting them sooner, its so easy its silly

Rick,

I am under the care of Dr. Mulhall (associated with Memorial Sloan-Kettering in NYC) and following the injection therapy schedule of 2-3X per week.  I will be two years post-op next month, and have been using trimix since Sept. 2008.  The pills never gave me more that a partial erection that was not sufficient for penetration.  The injections provide a normal erection that lasts more that an hour, and who knows how long if I keep stimulating.

Dr. Mulhall believe's that healing takes up to 18-24 months, so I'm bumping up against the higher limit.  On occasion, I get a full spontaneous erection in the morning but it only lasts a few minutes.  So I'm not sure if I've reached my ED recovery peak, or if there's more progress in my future.  At age 64, other hidden ED factors that affect many men may start influencing the process and I won't know if it was the surgery or part of aging.

I'm in a loving relationship with my wife of 38 years, but she shows little interest in sex these days.  So I'm more or less on my own and don't want to give up yet.

Throw away the pills- especially if you experience the flush, headaches and stomach upset than many of us do-- cialis causes severe backache for many-- pump is ok but clumsy and unnatural feeling- injections are the best- marvellous for some- easy to accomplish without the assistance of a doctor- no pain to speak of- on a pain scale of 1 to 10 , if a needle in the arm is a 5, then penis injection is a 1- if you like a drink wait until after injection and sex, then sit back and really enjoy it- good luck .

Injections are painless with no discomfort.  Your shaft is much like pulp with little or no nerves to detect any pain.  At least from a needle.

I had no luck with injections, at least with the strength I used, got about a 5.  7 years ago they were $80 per.

A good pump does work.

$80 per shot ? Holy smokes prices have come down. I pay $64 for a 5ml Trimix vial that lasts me for approx 35 shots, less than $2 a shot
