For those interested in IMRT:

IMRT as primary treatment in 1/07.
Urethral stricture in 10/07 treated successfully with dilation.
To date, no other side effects

Did you have any urinary issues immediately after radiation or did it just show up 8 months later?

Thanks for sharing. As a guy completing my IMRT tomorrow after surgery 4 months ago, I sure hope to have your stats three years from now.

Yes, I am “doing well so far.......”. However, I tend to to think of it a just “doing well”. The present makes more sense to me. Thanks.

I had some frequency issues that started about six weeks into the eight-week course of treatments. Hytrin cleared those up, literally, almost overnight. The constriction that became apparent at 8 months was scarring caused by the radiation. I’ve got a good Uro and the dilation, followed by a course of self cath’ing to keep things open, did the job. The issue seems to have resolved itself. Best….

I think I read that you were having some urinary impacts from the IMRT. If you haven't talked with the Doc's about it, do. The Hytrin did wonders for me, and it is CHEAP.

Hi Paralleli,

Thanks for posting. I too had IMRT as a primary treatment and I am in my second year. So far so good and no side effects to speak of.
