Well the good news first. I got the results for my 6 month post salvage IMRT test. 0.00 whooppee!!!!!! Finally a zero after all these months. Now the not so good news. I think I have developed radiation proctitus from the treatment. I found out it is quite common afterwards. Can anyone out there with a similar experience shed some light on the subject.

Congrats on the Zero! I can't help with the proctitus, but I'm sure the folks on the forum will jump in.

The good news trumps the bad news Bootheel. Hope the other clears up for you quickly, but I am happy for the zero for you.

Boot,
While I have not had severe GI problems yet, my rad oncologist has me taking fish oil (1000 mg 3X daily) and D3 (4000 IU) to help in preventing and healing. Additionally the rad oncology nutritionist suggested last week that I take glutamine which she said from her direct involvement with rad patients has helped them. She directed me to this link (not an advertiser or supplement seller, just a web site to aid cancer survivors) for information http://www.caring4cancer.com/go/cancer/nutrition/dietary-supplements/glutamine.htm . I have not started taking this so do not have any personal experience to relay.
I wish you a quick recovery and if you find something that helps, please let us know since this may be in our future too.
Take care,
Jake

As many men on this site have mentioned in their recovery, time is a great healer as well. Most of the inflamation caused by the radiation will subside with time. Some damage may be permanent however, and will need medical inervention to cope with it.
Good luck, and congrats on beating those little buggers back.

Thanks for the advice Jakester.
I wasn't told much when I went through the treatments. I will research the website.
