Oh Dear, I have been banned !

Well, some boards rules are more strictly enforced than others. Lots of them don't like to see people using 'their' board to promote other boards, forums, or help groups, profit or non-profit. Sorry you got kicked.

HealthBoards is an outstanding site. Their rules are a little different; easily described as more "restrictive."  Not a site for blather.

What some people call "blather", other people call sympathy, empathy, care, support, and the opportunity to deal with the emotional side of our cancers. Something HW has long been famous for. Can only speak for myself, but if I wanted just 100% medical fact, advice, or guidence, I would go to my doctors or find another doctor. HW Prostate Cancer is not intended to be a source of pure medical knowledge or advice, none of us are qualified or authorized to give it. Not to say that a lot of knowledge can't be learned here, I feel a great service is offered here to each new friend, or the spouse/relative/etc of a new person, that comes here frightened out of their mind from a recently learned PC diagnosis. If along the way here, friendships are made, humor is exchanged, subjects not 100% certifiably pertaining to PC are discussed from time to time, then I say its job and purpose are being done well. But that's just my opinion.

I think I was banned twice. I could not even say something like "google <this word> and see where it goes".

So I have had to commandeer my wife's logon to visit.

Hello gentlemen. I hope you don't mind me posting on the PC board, as I don't have PC. I have been reading this board for about 2 years though and gotten some great information from it. I had ED because of hypogonadism and are now on T replacement and continue to watch my PSA and the recent controversy on PSA testing and the discussions on that here. By the way, I am 65.

Anyway, to the subject of this thread. I was also banned from healthboards over a year ago. I think that they are more interested in getting the most funding from their sponsors than they are in helping those who post problems. What other reason would they have for not allowing links to any site that has any small commercial advertising, no matter how helpful that site is. They want to protect their own sponsors by not allowing any link to another sponsor. They would never allow someone to suggest ADC for ED drugs, but have adds in any ED thread from their not nearly as reputable as ADC sponsor selling ED drugs.

Many of their other rules and behavior are also unhelpful to the person asking the question and others asking for related help. They won't even allow the OP to ask about some treatment for his/her problem if it is outside the scope of the original question. I have seen many OP follow-ups deleted because it strayed somewhat from the original post. This is just a small sample of how unhelpful they are in my opinion. They could be a great board if they were interested in helping people instead of making money. Fortunately, Healing Well, while not as comprehensive in medical conditions as healthboards is, is an extremely helpful resource.

My best wishes to all of you who have gone through PC. We guys need to be more vocal on research funding like women have been for breast cancer research.

But what is being described as "blather" ie chatting and gossiping about what is inside our heads as well as what's in our bodies is the thing I find helpful about HW.

Or maybe "prostate problems" just got misread as "Pro-State problems" cos the hyphen was in the wrong place. As in:

Jerry, I still haven't been to any other prostate related/included online board other than HW. I found this place in a round about way, and been happy with it ever since.

I am thankful you are with us here, you are a great poster and a great friend. I think your new Facebook deal is the max. Just making me wish all the more for another bike. Though to be honest, not too sure how comfortable I would be with the pressure up in the crotch area, vibrations, etc. When I sold my last bike, I never had a clue about the PC coming a year or so later. I do miss it though, never mind having a passenger, but loved my solo rides myself. Would always make me feel 25 years younger, and definitely satisfies my always present need for speed.

Just keep on keeping on, Jerry, you are great just the way you are.

TOF, first, welcome to the Forum. Thanks for your questions. This Forum is a labor of love by the owner- Peter Waite. As a private owner of it, he has final control over each aspect of it, along with the financial costs involved. His revenue is basically donations, a small cut from book sales, and income generating advertising. Peter is assisted by his Moderators, volunteers who are a little more knowledgable in their area of expertise, either from experience or training, or have some other abilities, such as the time to monitor their areas and 'nip it in the bud' early any problems that pop up.

The server space that Peter buys is continually increasing as more people discover us and as the history of posting continues to add up. He does add new areas or disease forums once in a while, he just added 3 new ones a few months ago. Contacting him directly at [email protected] with your suggestions and requests is the best way to get your request made. However, he is extremely busy with his own work and life, has his own health issues that he must combat, and has to keep this whole thing running, so it might be some time before he can respond back to individual requests and suggestions. Can't hurt to ask... In the meantime, this particular forum is open to any aspect of prostate or d sexual health questions. We do get asked about things other than PCa, and are always willing to help if we can. We tend to wander a bit and aren't tied down to any rigid formula, so ask away, I'm pretty sure there's someone here who can answer your questions, in almost any area. If not, then we got several who can research it and send you to a source. Thanks

Jerry, I can read the board, without registering. Of course I can't post, but seems like you could still read and keep up with whatever section or thread you wished to read. Not as good as being able to respond, but you could still read it. Or at least with my browser....
