Met with the VA today to discuss PCa

My meeting and exam at the VA facility here in Orlando went well this morning. Almost well.

They are a huge facility and extremely busy. I had a lab appointment for 9:45am and a Dr. appt for 11am. Since it was my first time here I showed up at the lab at 9:20. They finally called me back for the blood and pee work at 10:47. Didn't take long once I was back there so I made it the docs office right on time at 11am.

She was waiting on me and I went right in. Very nice doc and very thorough. I took my complete medical history with me from the PSA test that rang the first bell through the PSA test I had done on Monday. She really thanked me more than once for having everything and said it made the job so much easier. Basically said that YEP you still have PCa, you are still being treated for active Pca and we'll see you in a few years when the VA ask for a re-evaluation.

She said she would get her report off to the VA by tomorrow and felt based on her experience, it was a slam dunk, no thought process required and I should see some checks shortly. Whatever shortly means in the world of VA time frames. She concurred that actively being treated for PCa is automatic 100% disability. The percentage would only decrease based on the PCa being taken care of and then I would be evaluated on continued ED and continence issues. I can live with that.

So it looks like "The Check is in The Mail", and Lynn and I and the RV will hopefully be on the road soon.

Much better day today than yesterday. YeeHaw!!!

Sonny, good going. I am still in the no news is good news stage, VA hasn't asked me for anything else since early Jan, so hopefully my next step will be right behind yours.

Good news on the dosh front, enjoy it.
But I hope the cheques dry up in the future due to PSA reversal.

Actually Sonny, my county VET's office is the example of efficiency and being on top of things. Plus a much tinier county than where you live in Florida, think there about 90.000 people in the county. If I don't get a new letter from the VA by the 10th of April, I will contact my local office again, but right now, they are the ones that said no news was good news, and that all my dr's had cooperated with the VA so far without any problems.

Can't wait till you annonce when you get that first juicy one that back pays you to the start.

Glad something is going right this year.

Had friends of mine who were missionaries killed in that TET offensive. They were brutal. Shot one dead while he had a white flag, threw hand grenades in a bunker killing 2 more, and wounding his wife.

What a mess that war was.

My father-in-law has Parkinson's and I filed his initial claim for him in November 2009. WE have submitted all of the paper work and medical info and he has received the normal back and forth flow of letters from the VA and the process is moving along. We anticipate his approval in the next couple of months.

It is great to see the govern. step up and recognize the ever growing list of those things that have been the outgrowth of Agent Orange Exposure.

Haven't gotten that far yet. Just received the word that the IMRT doesn't look like it got it all. A lot depends on the meeting with the Medical Oncologist and the outlook and plans for the treatment of my wife.

It boils down to my just plain taking a break from this stuff for a little while. At present the battles my wife is facing have to take a little more priority.
