My date with DaVinci is Wednesday(4/7) at 7:30AM at Vanderbilt Medical Center with Dr. Joseph Smith.

I am confident all will be fine.. but still nerve racking as it gets closer.

I will stop in as soon as I feel up to it after the surgery to keep all informed.

Your numbers suggest your procedure will be a BREEZE!

74 yrs. old DaVinci robotic 2/10/10 Henry Ford Dr. Peabody. PSA 6.7 with 2 of 12 cores positive gleason 3+4=7. Cancer contained, lymph nodes & nerve bundles saved. Overnight stay, penile catheter out the next day (home less then 24 hours after surgery). Prostate size of a lime which required a little extra time to re-attach the urethra. 40 day PSA undetectable. Usually one pad / day unless I do some sneezing, lifting, or lots of physical stuff. Couple of Tylenol 3's at home but pain not an issue, Shower the second day home felt GREAT! Pubic catheter out after 10 days.

You are in good hands with Dr. Smith and his team. He did my Robotic surgery in August 2009. Doing great now.

Was 99.9% dry the day the cath came out and having success with Levitra.

You will be a  great facility and as Larry stated in good hands with a great surgeon. I have thought about it since my surgery and I should have video taped my prep work, i.e. fleet and etc, and then buried it in a time capsule for my great- great grandchildren to see. Looking forward to your first post after surgery.

Hey Ricky,

Being a robotic veteran tongue , I believe you'll be just fine.

My robotic surgery was a breeze compared to my two hernia surgeries and those weren't all that bad either.

I know everyone is different, but I went home within 2 days with very little pain.

Hey Rick

  Kind of a strange place, to be in, I go in a week after you, on the 14th. I know it has to be done, but does'nt make it any easier.

I figure all I have to do is get in the car and walk though the Hosp. door the rest is someone elses problem, I just have to heal an get better. Hang in there Bud--Tim

Just remembering that day before's liquid diet - my family came in "for support", and fired up my kitchen while I was on broth. Oh well -
