Prostate Cancer Canada Network fundraiser - July 9, 2010

I am pleased to say that we were able to raise $200.00 for the Prostate Cancer Canada Network through the silent auctions held during our opening night reception of our art show here in Peterborough, Ontario.
We had over 40 visitors to our art show and exhibition - Bronson S. - John B. - "Two Artists - Works in Wood". -

We had pamphlets, pins and pens handed out and some sincere discussion regarding Prostate Cancer, testings and the like with a number of husbands and wives, spouses.
It may not seem like much money raised - but getting the word out is half the battle.

at the reception, we chatted with a man from our local support group - had surgery 4 years ago and has been on HT for the last three years - we spoke about NDP Jack Layton and his PCa battle - one of the winners on the silent auction is a bladder cancer survivor - oddly enough, the women I chatted with were the ones who made sure their husbands got their yearly PSA test, while the men complained that the cost of the PSA test is not covered in our universal health care system (Canada) - while all of the women's tests for cancer are.

all in all an informative and uplifting evening.
