I am now 10 weeks post surgery (open RP) and 8 weeks post catheter. In the last few days, pad usage dropped in half, from 6 or 7 to 3, almost overnight. Since that issue is coming around, my next issue is a weak stream. Sitting, the stream is about 20% of what it was pre-surgery, and standing, it's mostly dribble. I had BPH prior to surgery, so 20% of that isn't all that much! Ultrasound shows the bladder emptying. Have others had a weak stream that returned to normal, and how long did it take? Thanks

I am at 18 months out from surgery. Did have whompin' BPH leading up to surgery. Such a nuisance. I never had a weak stream problem afterward, and was able to gush it out in about 10 seconds -- always 10 seconds (but ultrasound showed it empty). I did seem to go fairly frequently even when consciously trying to hold it for a while longer. I Did and still do drink a pot o' Tea every day at work tho -- all day long sipping away. Water too, and a coffee even. I never tried to limit liquids. Now at 18 months i noticed that the gush goes on for about 15 seconds now so it seems capacity is up and interval time is up too and the stream gush is still about the same I think. Gushing -- One of the shining successes of my surgery besides still having zeroes each test of course.

I don't want to speculate on what the problem may be or if it is even a problem. But if it were me, I would call my Uro---not as an emergency call, but just his office ASAP.

The process at my Uro is I call the nurse, she talks to the doctor and gets back to me later or if she deems it necc., she goes ahead and gets me to come in that same day.

Good luck and I hope it is very minor and will resolve itself soon.

I agree completely, contact your Dr. soon. That is a significant unwelcome change that needs looked into early rather then later. That person may have a perfectly good explanation in which case you better post it here.

Advice to see your doctor is sound. I went thru two bouts of weak stream - caused by bladder neck scarring. One blockage cleared in the office, the other with surgery. Nothing to mess with. If it blocks, then you will be in extreme pain and end up in the ER. Hopefully it is something minor. Squid.

I second Subic's advice. He and I know a lot about strictures, and they are nothing to fool around with, you don't want to end up in the ER one night having an emergency catheter put in. Been there done that. Speaking to your dr asap is the best advice, to make sure that a stricture isn't forming. Hopefully everything will be ok and it will straighten itself out.

yes you need to see your doctor asap;after surgery you shuld urinate like a horse.I develop scartiss

and needed a second surgury then my pipe was opened and the presure is big.good lock.
