Speaking of Jokes

A post-surgical leaker was driving cross country when he realized he could go no farther, so reluctantly, he pulled to the side of the road and stepped into the woods to seek relief. Unfortunately, the county sheriff was conducting a training exercise in exactly those woods. The sufferer had barely begun his business when he was pounced upon by three eager deputies and hauled off to the county courthouse charged with indecent exposure.

As the poor fellow sat on a bench in the hall waiting for his turn in the courtroom he was approached by a stranger wearing a suit who asked what his story was. After relating the tale, the stranger identified himself as both an attorney and someone whom had undergone prostate surgery. The attorney said as a fellow PC sufferer he knew exactly how to defend such a case and would represent the leaker for a nominal fee of $50. The man agreed and when his case was called the lawyer motioned to him to stay seated and went into the courtroom to speak to the judge. A few minutes later he was called into the courtroom. The judge eyed him and issued and order: “Drop your trousers, your shorts too.”

The man blushed mightily but complied. The judge looked to the lawyer and said: “You’re right, case dismissed.”

Later, back in the courthouse corridor, the man asked the attorney what had happened and why the case was dismissed so quickly. “Aaah,” sighed the lawyer, “I told you I have had a prostectomy too. I knew we would have no trouble if we showed that this case called for an application of the doctrine ‘de minimis non curat lex!’”*

*The law is not concerned with small things.
