MET Radiation is Done - Taking the Bull by the Horns

This morning I completed my MET Radiation and rang the ceremonial bell 3 times celebrating the fact that I am done with it. I have a meeting with my Onco dr. next week and will be doing blood/lab work the day before in preparation for the meeting.

In the meantime, and at the strong suggestions of my caring, supportive and well wishing friends here at HW, I am taking the issues of my fatigue, moods, weight and strength changes, to the next level.

Before I left MDA this morning I arranged appointments for meetings with the Mental Health Counselor, the Nutritionist, and the Physical Therapy department. They have an entire program for Cancer Patients and I am going to avail myself of it.

I have an appointment with a Plastic Surgeon tomorrow to remove a suspicious place on my cheek. My PCP made this appointment because she did not like the looks of it in our last meeting. She wants the Plastic Surgeon to remove it, because it is on my face, and then have it sent for biopsy. A few years ago I had one removed that turned out to be squamous, but there was nothing in the margins, so there was no follow up.

My pre onco meeting blood work will be another PSA. This one will be about 30 days from the last and we'll see what is going on. I really don't know if my PSA will be affected this fast from the MET radiation, but here's hoping there is at least a downward trend.

Just thought I would catch you folks up on the latest for me and the PCa journey. "Onward and Upward to the never ending struggle for truth, justice and the American Way". It always sounded good when Mighty Mouse said it.

Congrats on finishing another round. Also pleased to hear you are going for the helps you can get from the center. Sometimes it is hard for us macho guys to ask for help.

Glad to hear you are finished with your radiation.  Sounds like you have a good plan and will be hoping for a good result on your next PSA.  I agree one day at a time!

Sonny, Glad you got to the 3 rings of the bell. Your a very smart guy to follow up with the Counselor, Nutirtion guy and PT people. Sounds like a real plan of action. Do keep me posted.

Davd, yep, your right. With medical costs driving everybody crazy, it's nice to have great insurance and fantastic facilities right here in town. I am going try and head off any effects from the rad. So maybe I can do some preemptive stuff and minimize the aggravation. I hope that all is moving in the right direction for you as well. Whatever that direction is. Lynn said to say hello right back.

Ed, thank you brother. I am looking forward to doing something. Don't know if it is right or wrong but I gotta do something other than sit around waiting for someone else to figure it out.

Zufus, thank you. Coming from you I really take this as a complement. I constantly do research on things related to my and Lynn's cancer. I just hesitate to offer much in that way. I feel that I really can only offer information on that which I have personally experienced. It is those things I feel comfortable in answering others questions because I have been there and done that.
