Aspirin the "wonderdrug". I have been taking low dose aspirin every day for a long time (over 20 years) to promote heart health. It is interesting that studies have also given aspirin credit for protection against several cancers including breast, colon and now prostate. It still works pretty good on a headache too.
Obviously aspirin did not prevent me from getting a Gleason 8 prostate cancer, but maybe it helped to minimize it's spread. I am a believer in this cheap old time pill's ability to do good things. I am confident that I would have been dead by now with heart and stroke related problems had I not been taking my pill a day.
Medical science still does not have all the answers, and still does not totally understand how it protects our bodies. I 'think' it is a long term therapy that will do little to help if you take it for just a few months. However, just like any other preventative, give it a try and keep it up. If you do not have serious stomach problems, then keep taking it for the rest of your life. Who knows, it might be helping to make you a really old man.
