Do I understand Dr. Samadi when he says lifetyle choice best to prevent PCA?

Casey59. I think you're mis-representing what I said in my earlier post. You've cherry picked one sentence out of several paragraphs, sort of like the politicians are doing to their opponents as we near election day. Yes, I said that we can't control our genetic makeup, but I also said, " but we certainly can control what we eat, what we drink, the environment in which we live, the amount of exercise we engage in, and so forth, any one or all of which may trip that genetic trigger and initiate the growth of cancer."

So just how is that different from the point you're making? How does my earlier comment even remotely sound like "genetic nihilism"?

Tud, why would I be sensitive? I walked out of a drs office in March and had cancer. I walked out of Boston Medical Center in May without the ability to pee or have an erection. And those are among the lesser of my personal concerns at the moment.

I started this post because I found it interesting that that specific quote was made by a dr I heard my co-members of this site speak of in glowing terms. That gave it weight with me. Which in turn made me feel it was a curious statement to make.

I know about eating healthy can save us from all kinds of cancers. I know it, I know it, I know it. I can only assume that had I had the best, wickedest coolest doctor money can buy, they might have mentioned diet. Since they didn't, I guess i'm as big a failure as they are. My uro has only performed a few thousand RPs.

Not accusing this doctor of anything. But lets not make it like the doctors statement is "Breakling news" in the battle against pca.. because it's not.

Clock, I only edited to make goodlife happy, I never mentioned anyone in particular in my original remark. I just think for the benefits of our newest and new members, that folks remember, that no one here is an expert at any of this. We are all PC patients, with unique experiences and journeys. Some are more well read than others, some are more eloquent in how they write than others, that's the only difference to me.

You get a group of men together, and some of the stereotyped macho stuff shows up from time to time. I am not into that, this place is a patient-to-patient support group, made up of men and some great wives and daughters. I am more interested in the support side, and the brotherhood we share in having PC as our common ground.
