As a fan of the TV show Scrubs, I saw this episode a year ago ~ it's pretty funny at parts. I was wondering how I was going to pull these scenes from the show and I thank the Prostate Cancer Coalition for North Carolina for doing it and posting it on YouTube. I'll let you watch it and I bet you will all agree with me on a few points:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZUTe7B98OcMy commentary:
First, there are several points here that show us a very important consideration: This show was in season 4 dating to about
2005. So the perspectives on prostate cancer have changed considerably. This clip shows how Hollywood is not a good source of "clinically acceptable" data.
a> Very few of us had a high PSA test resulting in a hospital visit for low risk prostate cancer.
b> I bet none were lying in bed in the hospital waiting for the biopsy results.
c> The patients feelings about
moving forward are very real today.
d> the doctors (JD and Dr. Cox) are not urologists. But they did have "surgery set for the same day the biopsy results were obtained. I am certain that there would be a few here who would like to comment about
that.
e> Interesting use of a tire pump
This was a funny set of scenes that end with real life decisions to be made. This fits the Scrubs show very well as it typically ties humor to real life endings.
