Thank you all for your kind words and support especially Sheldon AKA sleepless, your words gave me much comfort and helped me to put some things into perspective and for that, I thank you. x

English Afl, I read you wonderful blogg (along with most of my family and friends) how proud you must be.

It's nice to know that so many people care

Dad's biopsy went well, he was in and out within 40mins with very little discomfort and likened it to an eye test! which amused the nurses no end....and I thought it best not to ask Lol!

Our next appointment for results is on the 19th.

Im so glad I've found this sight, thank you all again you are all truly wonderful people x

Glad your dad was okay with his biopsy (and you've reminded me I need to go and have my eyes tested - simple things like that get forgotten about during the months of concentrating on the big picture)



When you go to get the results on the 19th ask for a copy to take home and study quietly. And if there is anything you don't understand because you can't think straight or because they use jargon or abbreviations, then ask them to explain.
(Failing that the folk at HW are not experts regarding diagnosis or medical stuff like that, but we're pretty good at deciphering the contents of test results and translating them into plainer English.)

So glad to hear your Dad did so well with the biopsy.  I remember well the anxiety I had going into that procedure, which turned out to be much ado about very little.  We'll be waiting to hear the results and wishing you well on that.

Alf, did you see my note and link to my grandfather's WWI journal?  It really shows the war from the infantryman's point of view.

Good news, indeed! I was not worried about the actual biopsy -- it was the waiting and anticipation of the results that created my anxiety. I learned that staying engaged in things that needed to be done (fixing things around my house, picking up hobbies, etc) helped me put those worries out of my mind.

Unlike you, I did not discover HW until post surgery. You are---in my opinion---seeking help from the very best place available: right here from the veterans and their families. Kudos for doing a really fine service for your father!

I echo STW's sentiments. I don't want to know that optometrist or I do want to know that urologist.
