Update on brothern (Les) Gordy~whom has not posted for awhile-had complications

I have kept somewhat in touch with Gordy/Les over the months since he went off the forum herein, he is dealing with serious level of PCa fighting. He had some recent issues and did not want to post and sent an email to me and Tony.  He said we could post this.

Tony/Bob-

At 3 AM on Saturday, March 5 I was rushed to local hospital with uncontrollable shaking.  I only remember waking up in emergency room.  After 3 days with WBC of 30,000 they finally came up with: pneumonia caused by tear in colon due to radiation for Pca.  The thinking is that fecal material traveled to my lung from the tear.  After 3 days they finally called in a surgeon who saw me at 10 AM one morning and said they had to operate immediately.  I was in operating room by 2 PM.  I now have colostomy.  I believe if it weren't for that surgeon and his partner, I wouldn't be here to write this.  So much for a local "Regional Medical Center".

If you feel my "story" could be of help to others, feel free to post it.  I don't want to have to keep responding to posts, nor do....t.  You two are the only ones I'm notifying.

   Keep Gordy in your hearts, minds and hope...I can or Tony can relay whom responded to this thread I think that would be a nice thing to do.  He is lucky he survived this set back as he stated.

 

Thanks for beating me to the post. Gordy and I, in spite of what might be obvious to some, have maintained a close relationship and he has a special place in my heart. It's been a tough ride for him and he has one of the most unusual cases ~ advanced progression to organs with minimal PSA rise. Les has had chemotherapy and multiple trials in his plight. He had originally had an RP and radiation back in 2005. His complications with radiation exemplify that our journeys and therapies are likely to encounter side effects at some point whether they tell us about them or not.

I am saddened by these complications as he has already had a tough ride. My heart goes out to him and his cancer surviving wife Carol.

Keep your chin up Gordy. We're all have our fingers crossed that you'll have a speedy recovery.

That's a tough set back for Gordy. I hope his recovery from the op is quick and once he has healed, reversible, and he is back on deck continuing the fight against this disease. He is one tenacious tough son of a gun, that is for sure. My best wishes go to him for a speedy bounce back.

Sorry to hear about Gordy's current situation.  I will be thinking of him and hope he has a speedy recoverd from his latest setback.  Please keep us appraised of his progress.
